The palette for this week is based on the color pairing of green and yellow, to celebrate the Boysen colors because this week extra special week. We celebrated Let it B’s first year anniversary on February 14. But even more important for the company is Boysen’s 65th anniversary on February 13.

Color Pairing: Green and Yellow To Celebrate the Boysen Colors
The Boysen colors green and yellow

If you’re Filipino, chances are you would recognize the Boysen can with just one glance. Even if the logo is not facing you, the Boysen colors are a giveaway. You’ll see them in hardware stores and home depots nationwide, in construction sites, on sides of roads as pedestrian lanes and sidewalks are being repainted. You’ll even see them in gardens since used cans are repurposed as planters, in bangkas as fishermen use them to store the day’s catch, in schools as garbage cans, or even in home laundry areas where water is stored…

Boysen Celebrates 65 Years

Last February 13, Boysen celebrated its 65th anniversary. We are proud and thankful to still be here actively serving the Filipinos.

We are proud because it is no mean feat for a company to live this long.

According to a BBC news article (2012), “The average lifespan of a company listed in the S&P 500 index of leading US companies has decreased by more than 50 years in the last century, from 67 years in the 1920s to just 15 years today.”  This for American companies where they exist in relatively less turbulent political and economic situations compared to companies in the Philippines.

Innovation is Key

We are also thankful because the Filipinos have embraced Boysen through the years, allowing it to enter their homes, offices, churches, banks, malls, hotels, airports, and other commercial spaces. You may not even be aware of it but Boysen could probably be part of your surroundings as you go about your day

This is the reason why Boysen continues to innovate, because the only way to repay this trust and loyalty is to constantly listen to what the customer needs, to be abreast of technological developments here and abroad and bring in these learnings in the manufacture of products, to keep a finger on the pulse of public concerns on health and environmental sustainability.

“In Japan, there are more than 20,000 companies that are more than 100 years old, with a handful that are more than 1,000 years old, according to credit rating agency Tokyo Shoko Research…There is even a specific word for long-lived companies in Japanese: shinise.” (Kim Gittleson)

When asked what the key to their longevity is, “Professor Makoto Kanda, who has studied shinise for decades, says that Japanese companies can survive for so long because they are small, mostly family-run, and because they focus on a central belief or credo that is not tied solely to making a profit.”

For this homie Boysen, it is truly an honor to have been serving the Filipinos for 65 years.

Realm is that Boysen palette that speaks of heaven and stars, a palette that symbolizes dreams and aspirations to be better human beings.

There is violet, the color of royalty, majesty, even nobility. It’s intensely deep color is balanced by a pink, the color of compassion and love. Then comes a vibrant orange, the color of strength and endurance. Yellow completes the palette, the color of wisdom and illumination.

For this post, I will concentrate on two colors – Imperial Force and Star Princess. These colors can stand alone but can also be a great color combo.

Realm is a palette of hope. There is a movement that is gaining momentum. People are awakening and becoming more aware of what our role is in how our future on this planet will pan out. There is an ever-increasing flirtation for many, for some it is an outright dedication, to break boundaries in our way of thinking – to transcend what divides us and instead focus on what binds us as a species.

Man’s dawning realization is that the answers to the challenges we face can be found only in ourselves.

Palette Renew may have been launched last year in the Boysen Color Trend 2016, but it is as relevant now as it was then, maybe even more so with the recent natural disasters that strongly point us in the direction of GOING GREEN. NOW.

I’ve been asking millennials I know whether the environment is something they consider important. I get a resounding yes every single time. Anyone who reads the news or spends time in social media can no longer ignore issues like climate change, carbon footprint, waste disposal, sustainable energy… These are not buzzwords but real life challenges that we all are facing wherever we are in the world.

Palette Renew is an invitation to come up with an alternative lifestyle that veers away from the culture of consumerism which prevailed in the 20th century.

For Earth Day this year, we made a video to show that we can do simple things to take care of the environment right now.

Read more about this palette in the post Celebrate Mother Earth with the Palette Renew.

Let’s RENEW our commitment to Mother Earth, guys; let’s GO GREEN.

Channel the superhero in you with the palette Realm . With paint names Imperial Force, Star Princess, Dune Buggy and Tribute Yellow, you can’t help but think about all those movies about godly beings with super powers that save the world, wherever that world is.

The palette is bold and daring, befitting superheroes. We have added neutrals – Off White Gray Cast, Amish Linen and Vanilla Ice, to give the striking colors the space they need to breathe.

This palette was inspired by the social movement that is gaining momentum, that of the Eco Warriors.

People are awakening and becoming more aware of what our role is in how our future on this planet will pan out. There is an ever-increasing flirtation for many, for some it is an outright dedication, to break boundaries in our way of thinking – to transcend what divides us and instead focus on what binds us as a species.

The world population breaking the seven billion barrier, dwindling natural resources, climate change and global warming, wars that have displaced so many people around the globe are some of the issues of such gravity that cause huge cross-sections in society to feel deep concern. Are we in need of superheroes to save us from ourselves? Will we succeed in making a better world for us all? Is an Apocalypse written in the stars? Or will mankind write its own destiny?

Man’s dawning realization is that the answers to the challenges we face can be found only in ourselves.

The palette Recreate has grays, browns, a bright red and yellow. The inspiration comes from the patterns and textures found in nature, from the smallest cell to the cosmos. This is a sophisticated palette that requires a more discerning eye for colors and their combinations.

Nature is never flat, nor is it perfect. That’s what makes it special. Ditto with Recreate.

Look around you,  and will find so many things that can fire up your creativity, if you just let go and open your eyes.

Recreate is one of the four palettes in Color Trend 2016.

The palette Recharge pulses with energy with its vivid, deep blues, and the brightest orange.

In today’s fast-paced world propelled at even higher speeds by technology, a day turns into night and back again at a relentless tempo.

More and more people prefer to spend their free time on adventures into nature. This summer, go out and plug into nature and recharge, absorb pure energy, and breathe in 100% fresh air.

Make this your summer mantra.

Recharge is one of the four palettes comprising Color Trend 2016.

The palette Renew is made of the vibrant colors of green, yellow and a very pale blue. This palette is a celebration of Mother Earth and the sun that gives us life.

This is the time of the nature lovers, those who are making inroads in living an alternative lifestyle, as they turn away from the culture of consumerism of the 20th century. They believe that we are one – the Earth, the ecosystem, and every living creature upon it.

Earth Day should not be celebrated only once a year, but every day.

Renew is one of the four palettes in Color Trend 2016.
