Boxes are meant for putting things in. But for Kriz, it also means another painting idea. She deconstructed the box and used the corrugated medium in between the liners to paint a textured wall.
Use Paint to Make Textured Walls
Texture is one of the seven elements of interior design, which you can use to make your room look more interesting. The tactility of this element changes the temperature in a room from warm to cool or vice versa. Imagine a sleek living room with marble floors, lamps in metallic shades, an accent wall covered with a mirror. Then you pair that with a soft, sumptuous, plush rug made of a thick pile. By the window, you have an oversized couch which is comfy, cozy and spacious, perfect for snuggling. Juxtaposing those items in one space create the magic of balance. The room becomes soft and warm, and no longer hard and cool.
The biggest surface in your room, the walls and ceiling, can also have texture. While others may opt for wallpaper, or cover their walls with fabric, an easier and cost-effective way to do it would be to use a material that you can cover your roller with to create that design or texture on your wall when you paint.
Our painting tip in this video is to use corrugated paper.

- soft shirt and rubber bands
- empty tube container to create that faux wood effect
- hard-bristled brush
- a ruler, painters tape, and a sponge, to create a faux brick wall

- Prime bare surface first with Boysen Flat Latex then putty minor imperfections with Boysen Masonry Putty.
- Then apply a full coat of Boysen Acrylic Emulsion. This coating acts as a barrier against dampness on concrete walls.
