Colors from nature aren’t just confined to shades of green. An eco-chic urban dwelling can be inspired by the many hues unselfishly presented to us by the natural world. Here, we’re taking a look at just some of them.

All the colors in this list make up the Breathe palette in Boysen’s Color Trend 2022/23. You’ll get to know the colors as well as glean a bit of insight as to why they were chosen and their relevance to the current times.

As is beautifully described and expressed in the Boysen Color Trend website for the hues of the Breathe palette, “When the world gets too frenzied, retreat into this sanctum to catch your breath.”

We live in a time where everything seems to be coming at us at lightning speed. When life gets overwhelming, take things one task at a time. Like flower buds slowly blooming, growth and triumph take patience. Breathe and trust that you’ll get there. Those baby steps will still take you where you need to go.

For your home, let this hue inspire you to be more forward-thinking. Pink is not just for girls’ bedrooms. Play around and see where it can blossom. Maybe the kitchen or bathroom, perhaps?

Did you know that terracotta literally translates to baked or cooked earth? Terracotta pottery is made from red clay which gives it its distinct brownish-red color. And it’s this red clay from the earth, which is hardened by fire, that allows us to make useful and beautiful things like pots, bricks, pipes, and sculptures. If there was a fitting color to represent soil and all that it’s able to provide us, this is it. It will look stunning in your home too.

Morning Yoga evokes imagery of a gentle awakening and of slowly breathing life and energy back into the body. It’s feeling the warmth of the morning sun on your skin, stretching out your limbs, and warming up both your physical and mental self.

Perspective is a powerful tool and if you start the day with the thought that it can turn out into a good one, then it just might. Bring a similar quiet yet unmistakable enthusiasm for life into your home with this paint color. Namaste.

We think of deserts as desolate and barren, but we forget that life perseveres even in such harsh conditions. Resilient plant and animal wildlife are able to not only survive but also thrive in deserts. Their secret? Their ability to be both adaptable and tough in order to endure and flourish. We can be the same. Faced with difficulties, including ones that are unprecedented and devastating such as a years-long pandemic, we are invited to breathe, take a moment to arrange our thoughts, and adapt to overcome.

Even though we’re celebrating the other wonderful colors found in nature, we still can’t miss out on having a shade of green, of course. This one is a subdued moss green hue, similar to herbal tea leaves.

Comforting and grounding, this is the hue for centering yourself and returning to a place of calm. It’s definitely a stylish color as well and an easy way to give a room an air of class and refinement. Pair with organic pieces to bring more of nature indoors.

Charcoal Mask BCT21-7911S

Balance is integral in nature. Everything has its place and role, and each works together to achieve equilibrium and harmony. Too much of one thing and the balance shifts. An important and terrifying example is how human activities have brought about global warming.

Hence, not all colors in nature are bright and cheerful. Darker hues are present as well. Charcoal Mask is a somber color. Charcoal, with its dark appearance, is the fuel of fire that provides light and heat. Again, all things purposeful and in harmony. Find balance in your home as well and incorporate darker hues, like Charcoal Mask, where it’s needed.

Taken a liking to a paint color in this list? You can have all these hues and the others also included in the Boysen Color Trend 2022/23 collection at a Boysen Mix and Match station (find a list of locations here).
