Readily available paint colors are super convenient. You just grab a container at the store, pay for your purchase, and you’re ready to start painting at home. But what if the color your heart is longing for isn’t on the shelves? Don’t fret, Boysen has your back. Here’s how and where to get paint colors beyond what’s readily available.

1. Boysen Mix & Match stations

Your best bet if you really want a specific color, or at least something very close to it, is to head to your nearest Boysen Mix and Match station. You won’t have trouble finding them as they’re in almost all major home depots and hardwares.

At a Boysen Mix and Match station, you’ll be able to look through paint swatches that provide you with thousands of color options. Whatever you choose will then be mixed in-store just for you.

Your paint can be mixed as Boysen Permacoat, Virtuoso Silk Touch, Boysen Healthy Home, and Titan Superflex Elastomeric Paint. Each has merits of its own so pick the one that suits your needs and preferences best. (Note, however, that not all colors are available as all of these products and paint product stock will depend on the location.)

2. The Color Library by Boysen

Boysen: The Color Library is Now Open! Take a Peek Inside | MyBoysen

The Color Library is a color lover’s dream. Boysen’s newest concept store, The Color Library is home to over 1,300 paint colors that we’ve collated in one place so they’re easier for you to browse and choose from. You can even take the swatches off the shelves and hold them in your hands—they’re made look like books! Isn’t that cool? Definitely a one-of-a-kind color experience.

Once you’re done marveling and looking through the shelves, you take your chosen Colorbooks (this is what we call the paint swatches at The Color Library) to the counter to have them mixed in-store in 200 mL or 1 L containers. Here’s an insider tip: The smaller 200 mL pots are perfect if you want just a sample of the color to test out at home.

If you want a color from The Color Library in larger amounts, simply head to Boysen Mix and Match station with the pot from The Color Library or take note of the color name and color code on the label.

3. Boysen Colorants

If you prefer to mix paint on your own to get your desired color, Boysen Colorants is what you need. Colorants are added to a container of paint, such as Boysen Permacoat or Boysen Quick Drying Enamel, to change its color. They are best used when you want to achieve pastel to medium shades. Check out the video above to see how it’s done! Then, watch this one as well for just some of the colors you can achieve with Boysen Colorants.

An important thing to remember when using Boysen Colorants is to pick the type of colorant that matches your paint product. If your paint is oil-based, for example, your colorant should be Boysen Oil Tinting Colors.

Remember as well that the maximum amount of colorant you can mix into your container of paint is at a ratio of 1:16. More than this and you risk the stability of your paint. So, if you have a 1/4-liter can of colorant, then you use the 4-liter can of paint. Have fun!
