We made a new video tutorial, this time showing how to make an easy chevron pattern on your walls using ordinary materials.

A chevron pattern is an inverted V pattern that is stamped (in this video) side by side to form a seamless continuous pattern. This pattern works well on accent walls. In the video, we painted a vertical line where the inverted Vs meet, it also serves as a ruler to guide you.

The chevron pattern is a favorite of people who also love the Scandinavian interior design. Geometric shapes like triangles, herringbone, and chevron are versatile and timeless. They can also fit other interior styles, and not only Scandi interiors.

Use Scrap Cardboard as a Stamping Tool

In many of our Let it B videos, you will notice that we use tools that you can easily get. We want to show that you don’t have to use expensive tools to make beautiful designs on your walls.

For this chevron pattern, we used scrap cardboard. The tip here is not to load the cardboard too much with paint when you stamp the pattern, otherwise you will have drips on your wall.

Repurposing Things to Use as Tools

Here are other video tutorials that we made of DIY painting designs which use materials that would otherwise be considered as trash.

Magical Butterfly Wall Video Tutorial

This butterfly wall uses a stencil cut out from cardboard. Using an ordinary sponge, this butterfly design was painted on the wall. Use different sizes of butterflies to make the design look more interesting.

Cling Wrap Grunge-Style Wall Video Tutorial

This video shows how to make a grunge-style wall with a common kitchen tool, the cling wrap. Don’t limit the use of this material to wrapping your sandwiches, you can use it also on your walls. With some paint, you get this textured look.

You can also look at the following video tutorials if you want to achieve the textured look:

How to Make a Bubble Wrap Beehive Wall

This video tutorial shows how to stamp patterns on the wall using bubble wrap, which is double-taped to a scrap cardboard in the shape you like. For this wall, we used a hexagon. Make a stamping tool handle using an empty carton roll either from aluminum foil, cling wrap, or even tissue, then glue it to the hexagon.
