Kriz is back and in this video, she gives us a tutorial on painting ideas for bookends. Watch how she does it then choose your own shape and paint it in any color you want!

Bookends need Books

Bookends? Who needs bookends? Do people still buy and read books anyway? There’s the internet, you can always read whatever it is you want to read over there. For example, you can brush up on art history and read these books for free.

You can also get an ebook, and download it on your e-reader or gadget. I had one of those a few months after the Kindle was launched in 2007. The rationale was that you can have so many books when you are on a trip, or go on a vacation, without the weight! Which is really a great option, knowing how heavy books can be.

A few years after e-readers came into the market, long-established bookstores around the world started to get into trouble. Thousands of bookstore workers lost their jobs when even the huge chains they worked for started to go on a steep decline or closed their doors.

But now it seems that physical books are making a comeback. I, for one, have long since tucked my e-reader somewhere. I don’t know if it still works. First, I have to look for it.

Physical books have a magic of their own. Turning the page is something I missed when reading on an e-reader, or even reading on my laptop. I see that the love for books is coming back, judging from the lines you see in Big Bad Wolf! You can also watch out for sale events in our bookstores over here. There are also the pre-loved books to be found in some stores. It is worth it to visit those stores too because most of the books are in good condition.

Bookshelves Can Multitask

If you are a book lover, read this post about painting ideas for home libraries. Bookshelves aren’t only for books. You can use them to partition your space, especially if it’s an open space like a studio condo.

Or you can also use shelves as your feature wall. Just make sure that you are able to arrange and organize the things you put on the shelves so it doesn’t look so messy. I don’t aspire to also just keep 30 books in my collection. I stand by my decision to not use the KonMari Method.

Despite having two bookshelves at home, I still have a pile of books in other places. I’m a tsundoku practitioner.

Painting Ideas for Your Bookends

You can use any kind of heavy object as bookends like a cat. Kidding.

I’ve seen many kinds of things, like a vase, a globe, statues, rocks, that pair of metal thingies you buy in a bookstore, etc. I have a more practical solution – a pile of books laid flat. It works.

But if you want to flex your DIY muscles, then look at how Sarah and Pete made a concrete lamp. It’s always good to have a lamp on your bookshelf as an accent light to highlight this feature in your space.

Or you can also use the shapes which Mia and Dexter chose for their animal baby mobile. Just make them bigger.

There are so many painting ideas really that you can get for your bookends. Trawl through the many Let it B videos and find your inspiration.
