The Importance of Using the Correct Painting Brush
It’s imperative to know what type of paint brush to use depending on the type of surface you’ll be painting and the look that you’re going for. But, aside from ease of use and decorative effect, there are certain types of paint brush that are not compatible with certain types of paint. Painting It Easy Episode 02: Painting Brush 101
So, from watching the video we learned that brushes and rollers come in different sizes. Take note of all the areas you’ll be painting so you know which sizes to get! Nothing is more difficult than painting a whole wall with a 1-inch brush. You’d take the whole day (or two!) to finish. Also, imagine painting a small, delicate corner with a 4-inch brush, you’ve got to have some mad skills in order to pull that off.
Jot down the paint you’ll be using for your painting project, too! Natural brushes work best with solvent-based paints while synthetic brushes are compatible with water-based paints. If you can’t tell the brushes apart when you arrive in the store, ask the merchandiser nearest you. I’m sure they’d be happy to help you pick out the paint brush you need.

While painting is not exactly rocket science (most of the time, anyway), there are certain tips and tricks that can help you get a more even and clean finish for your project. Post-Painting Aftercare
After toiling away with your DIY painting project, the last thing you want to do is clean up, right? Do it anyway. It only takes a few minutes of your time, I promise! Plus, it’s super important to clean your paint brushes immediately after you’re done with them to make sure the paint doesn’t harden on the bristles. Once they dry, it’ll be that much harder to take them off when you’re doing another painting project in the future.
If you used a water-based paint on your brushes or rollers, wash them off immediately with some water and mild soap until the water runs clear. Then, let them dry off completely before storing them away. For other types of paint such as enamels and epoxies, clean the brush using its respective clean-up solvent. For example, Acrytex Reducer for Acrytex Paint and Paint Thinner for QDE.
