I used to be so afraid of closing doors and opening a new, unfamiliar one. What if I don’t belong in that room, what if I go through that door and I’m all alone, what if I’m supposed to just stay on one corner unheard and unnoticed, what if, what if, what if… Then, I realized that the fear I feel is really just… excitement. The zeal for new beginnings. What if behind that door is the chance for me to reinvent myself, to know a little bit more about what I’m supposed to do? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. So, I lifted myself up and took baby steps forward.

So should you.

Remember that once you decide to move on from the thing that’s been holding you back, the next step you take is crucial but also liberating. This is your chance to start over, to make things better. What’s good is that this time, you’re not starting from scratch but from experience.

Gotta Start with a Clean Slate

Bring that mantra to your walls. (Speaking of mantra, take this quiz to know what your 2020 mantra should be and get inspired by painting ideas from our 2019 Color Trend palettes.)

This year, choose to turn the color intensity down or go full-on maximalist. It’s your call. Just pick something different from what you’ve always done. But whichever you choose, don’t forget to prepare the walls properly before splashing it with new colors.

Start with checking the wall to be repainted. Remove all the existing paint and, if necessary, take care of the problems that need to be treated immediately. Although you may have used the best paint in the market in your previous DIY projects, common painting problems arise when you failed to prepare the surface. We wrote a series for you to know how to treat mildew-infested walls, flaking walls, chalking walls, etc. Click on this link.

Once you’re done with the treatment, clean up and dry off the surface. Read on how to properly prepare different surfaces here. Follow the Boysen recommended system of painting to achieve your desired finish.

Begin Again with These Repainting Ideas

If one of your 2020 resolutions is to not have boring walls ever again, then these painting ideas are for you. What better way to start the year but with a blank canvas where you can play around with this new year. Paint your home anew and start again.

Reconnect with people you’ve lost touch with over the last decade.

What to mix in latex white semi gloss boysen to create ckassuc blue color paint

    • Hi Lily,

If you would like to create light to pastel shades, you may mix BOYSEN Latex Colors to BOYSEN Permacoat White Latex. Click here for product details, instructions and colors available: https://bit.ly/3hlpPWO

Friendly note: Ideal ratio of colorant to paint is 1:16, respectively. Do not use B-1466 Hansa Yellow and B-1407 Toluidine Red for exterior applications.

If you would like to create dark shades, we recommend choosing from factory-mixed colors or go to the nearest Mix & Match Station (http://www.mixandmatchcolors.com/locations.do).

On the other end, if you meant the Pantone Color of the Year, our closest BOYSEN Color Match is BOYSEN Series A B-099-E. This is a special color that can be mixed as BOYSEN Permacoat Latex, which can be used on concrete walls and drywalls, at our Mix and Match Stations
