The Boysen blog Let it B turned 4 years old in February. Over the years, the Blog Team has noticed that we’ve had our content plagiarized by different foreign sites. The most recent one did not copy-paste only one, but several of our articles.
The image above is a screenshot from the foreign site. I wrote “Borrow the 60-30-10 Rule of Interior Designers for Your DIY Painting” on July 16, 2018 and it is one of the most-read blog posts. I took that photo myself so that’s my laptop, my color wheel, and the Boysen Color Trend 2018 brochure.
This website even copied artworks with the Boysen paint swatches, the paint names and codes. How does that help their readers? Or is that not their objective?
Below is another post about doors written in January 2018 to welcome the new year. Even the video we made was embedded on their site. I think the owners of this site may have thought that since they had already plagiarized a few articles, getting our videos and images made “sense”?

Originality is the Key
My main message for our readers is not about the plagiarists. What is important is originality when decorating your homes. Whether you belong to #teamputi, #teamindustrial, #teamkulay, or #teamkahoy, give your home your personal stamp.
There is wisdom in using images that you find in magazines or the internet that inspire you when you are decorating your own home. Don’t just copy-paste but go for your own style and don’t erase your individuality from your home. Instead, express yourself and give it soul…your soul. When a guest enters your place or sees photos of your home, they should be able to tell that it is yours.
Many photos of interiors that you see are thoroughly curated. These are either photo shoots for products, which means that the products are given focus, or of glossy interiors showcasing the brilliance of an architect or interior designer.
So if you want to hang your children’s medals on the wall, or have a photo gallery of your clan, or recycle your lola’s old sewing machine as a console table, or use empty wine and beer bottles to make into a wall, or display your collection of mugs from all over the world…just do whatever makes you happy. Don’t strive to be a minimalist if you’re a pack rat. Don’t go black and white if you love color. Don’t hide your best tableware in the platera. If there’s something we learned from this pandemic, it’s that the best time to live is now.
