Take Home Tokyo! Boysen Paint Colors of Places Around the World | MyBoysen

Our first stop is a local destination. We’re traveling to the southern tip of Cebu—to Oslob. Philippine seas are a treasure to Filipinos and a marvel to its visitors both local and foreign. Striking natural scenery, rich marine biodiversity, and crystal-clear waters are key ingredients to each of the beautiful beaches in the Philippines. They make up a long list that includes the world-famous Boracay in Aklan and El Nido in Palawan. Among them as well is Oslob in Cebu.

Sumilon Island in Oslob, Cebu offers stunning white-sand beaches and natural lagoons filled with mangroves. One of its unique attractions? A sandbar that shifts and changes with the tide and season. How cool is that! Boysen paint color Cebu Seas is reminiscent of the waters lapping at the edges of Sumilon’s sandbar. Feel like you’re sitting seaside with the sun in your eyes by having this at home.

Tokyo By Night

I think this shade of blue does its job well of capturing Tokyo at night without the help of words or pictures. It has distilled the modern metropolitan’s essence after the sun has gone down and turns the sky a single hue. What a feat! Let me explain how.

Beautiful already during the day, Tokyo seemingly transforms into a different city at night. It changes from its strictly-business dress code to a vibrant heading-out attire. Particularly in its commercial districts such as Shibuya and Shinjuku, all the lights that come alive after dusk are a sight to behold on their own. It’s dazzling.

So, instead of a deep blue closer to the color of the midnight sky, Tokyo By Night is much livelier, more exciting, and even has a subtle hint of red to it—almost as if you can peek through it to spot the lit-up signs and street lamps.

Amsterdam Dreaming
BCL-7812

Take Home Tokyo! Boysen Paint Colors of Places Around the World | MyBoysenHave you visited The Color Library by Boysen? If not, you definitely should. It’s a one-of-a-kind concept store that is home to a collection of 1,300 paint swatches (take a peek inside). This paint color is part of a curated selection with Scandinavian influences (no offense meant, Amsterdam). Amsterdam Dreaming is one of my favorites for the imagery of the city it conjures up thanks to the combination of its hue and name.

This muted red is a mainstay of the most popular and historic streets in Amsterdam through its celebrated brick buildings. Characterized as the Amsterdam School style of architecture, the buildings are distinctly Dutch and instantly recognizable.

I have never been there but I imagine that walking through Amsterdam’s streets on a cool spring day would feel like a dream. I also like the idea of Amsterdam at night, in peaceful slumber, dreaming of the freshly baked bread and flowers in bloom that await it in the morning.

Stuck in Stockholm
BCL-7510

Take Home Tokyo! Boysen Paint Colors of Places Around the World | MyBoysenStuck in Stockholm? While away the time by playing spot the color—this one in particular. Sweden’s representative colors are blue and yellow most exhibited, of course, by its national flag (and, perhaps to more younger generations, the Ikea branding and logo). So where would you spot this teal color in Stockholm?

Well, look up and you just might see it. Copper is a common material for roofs in Stockholm. Copper is durable, highly weather-resistant, and adds aesthetic appeal as a roofing material to structures. Interestingly enough though, when copper ages, its surface takes on a bluish-green tint which actually helps preserve and protect the metal. A birds-eye view of the city would reveal quite a number of roofs sporting this color which notably includes the Stockholm City Court and Wrangel Palace. Now you know!

Melbourne

Our last stop is down under in Melbourne. In a country of a people who greatly respect and adore the great outdoors, a lush green feels like a very fitting color. And Melbourne, one of Australia’s largest metropolises, definitely has no shortage of outdoor green spaces. A prime example is the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria which spans 38 hectares and is home to more than 8,500 species of plants—free of charge for those who want to visit.

Melbourne has consistently nabbed the title as one of the world’s most livable cities for several consecutive years in a row. I’m sure its open and free public spaces were not overlooked as one of its positive attributes and assets. And as someone who has only known home as bustling and crowded Metro Manila, I hope my city gets to be on that list with Melbourne someday too.
