Don’t throw that styrofoam that came with your lunch just yet. Instead, use it to make a pop art stamp of a design of your choice. In this video tutorial, we chose to make a coffee press stamp. Watch the video to find out how.

What Design to Choose for Your Accent Wall

This question is best answered by thinking about where in the house the accent wall will be. For our video, we chose the coffee press because the accent wall is in the kitchen. We could also have chosen fruits like apples and pears…or mangoes and dalandan, delicious fruits that are available in our country. If your accent wall is in the bedroom, you can make florals, or clouds for the nursery like Dexter and Mia, although what they used was a stencil. The choices are only limited by one’s imagination.

Here’s a simple design of a hexagon that you can easily make a stamp for (or a stencil).

What makes this design stand out are the wall wooden shelves, also in a hexagonal shape, which are incorporated in the design. Just add pots of small succulents, and you have yourself a unique and refreshing accent wall.

Here’s another idea for the nursery or the children’s room.

Make a simple fish shape and group your stamp design as decor for a corner. Note how the 3 vertical lines in each fish create a strong, geometric look to what is fairly a simple design. Stamping the fish to face either left or right create also a certain tension in the design which makes it more attractive.

Boysen Paint Colors

You will find the paint names and codes of the colors we used in the caption of our IG images and also in the video. If you want other colors, you have thousands to choose from. You can go to a Boysen Mix and Match Station and look at the paint color fan decks. If you want to look at the color swatches in the safety of your home, you can always order your own fan deck in this link.

Don’t want to spend the money? You can also download the Boysen App.
Friendly reminder: Once you find your perfect color match, it’s important to view the actual swatch at the nearest Mix & Match station in your area before having a batch mixed. Find the branch nearest you by clicking on this link.

Surface Preparation

Surface preparation is a very important part of the painting process. A short clip on how to prepare your wall is shown in the video.

To be able to prepare the wall well, first you have to identify what material it is made of—concrete, wood, drywall, or metal. Then you have to also see whether it has been previously painted or not. Find the right post for your wall by scrolling through this link.
