Owning a luxury dream home is out of reach for most of us, unless you come from old or new money which makes owning one part and parcel of your life should you wish to have one. For some, it is something to aspire for so they work hard to achieve the dream. For others, it is just that, a dream, and they are happy to vicariously experience what it feels like to live in a luxury home, maybe by leafing through glossy home magazines in book stores, or surfing on the internet. The contented ones are happy with their lot, and consider their humble abode their kingdom. While still some others do not think of luxury homes at all. because they are pursuing other dreams that they’re busy weaving into reality.

To which group do you belong to?

Luxury Homes

Luxury is a relative term that could mean different things to people. To set down some parameters, let’s use some features used by the real estate industry to describe what a luxury home would mean:

  • The property sits in the most prime location. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in a city, by the beach, or on top of a mountain. The home is in an area that is much coveted.
  • The architectural design is unique and stands out because it makes a bold statement.
  • High quality (and expensive) materials are used outside and inside the home.
  • The house offers impressive views.
  • Privacy and security are essential so you have high fences, impressive gates, and/or tight security features.
  • Exclusive amenities are built to cater to a homeowner’s elevated and discerning taste.

Here are some examples of luxury home styles to feast your eyes on.

The Glass Mansion

A glass mansion like this would be great if you have an incredible view outside. This design style blurs the outdoors and indoors. Open floor plans make the flow of moving between areas as easy as possible.

Ultra-Modern Penthouse

Can you imagine moving around in the rarified atmosphere of a penthouse like this where the world is at your feet? Up there, you can live your days in a sanitized atmosphere where pollution and mundane problems of the masses can’t reach you.

Mediterranean-Style Estates

I do love these classic mansions that have this Mediterranean flair, with the white walls, arches, and the black wrought iron grills on display on windows, balconies, and front doors. Add a hot pink bougainvillea in full bloom spilling over one side, and one gets the feeling of dolce vita. Not that ordinary people like me can really admire it because usually places like these are in wealthy enclaves that do not allow entry to non-residents. Also, these are usually set back from the street and built somewhere in a sprawling estate, out of sight from prying eyes.

Beachfront Villa

Wealth can allow for one to build a gorgeous villa by the sea or on an island. No expense spared with the build or with bringing expensive raw materials and expert builders to a far-flung place. It is this inaccessibility that makes it exclusive and easier to maintain privacy and security.

Sustainable Minimalist Retreat

If climate change stops you from building a beachfront or island villa, you can always opt to make a sustainable, green, environmentally-friendly home in some remote location as a haven far from the madding crowd. Think of a sanctuary in the middle of a tropical forest where you only have cicadas and frogs to lull you to sleep. In the mornings, you are awakened by the chirping of the birds and the whispers of leaves brushing against each other.

Dream Home

A luxury home is great eye candy but before you aspire for one, understand that it comes with a price and a high-flying lifestyle that you need to sustain.

If you dream of a home like this, you can be assured that Boysen products will fit right in. After all, their quality and the technical service provided have been proven for more than 70 years. But this wouldn’t be a concern if you can afford a luxury home. Your architects and interior designers can take care of such things for you.
