It’s October 1, 2024! How’s your mood?

It’s such a cliché, but I am sure some of you will agree that time really goes so fast. We just had the Jose Mari Chan memes when September started, and now it’s what…Halloween and All Soul’s Day posts …then back to Santa Claus again? Those occasions are driven by colors and moods too—cool colors for All Hallow’s Eve and Undas and the warm colors for Pasko.

Here’s a refresher on paint colors and the moods they bring in your living spaces. We’ve talked about colors in many articles, but this time we have it in video form from our resident DIYer Dave for those who prefer a more visual medium.

Dave shows the different warm and cool colors and in which rooms each is the best fit. However, this is just a guideline because you decide which colors fit better in the different spaces inside and outside your home.

Warm Colors

Warm colors, like red, orange, and yellow, are perfect for social spaces in your home, such as the kitchen, dining room, or living room. They would also look good in outdoor spaces like the veranda, balcony, or lanai, unless you want your domestic exterior spaces to blend into the landscape.

These vibrant colors elevate the mood in a room, like giving a space a fun, energetic, happy and warm vibe, the kind of energy that you would want in rooms meant for human interaction and connection.

Cool Colors

Cool colors, like blue, green, and purple, are calming and soothing. These are a good fit for rooms for sleeping and cocooning, like bedrooms, bathrooms, and study rooms.

An advantage of cool colors is that it gives the illusion of receding, which makes these perfect for small spaces. These colors could also work very well in outdoor spaces. Wanna make your home very much a part of the plant landscape? Paint your patio walls green to make it blend in with nature.

Changing the Paint Color Changes the Mood

Here’s an easy way to see the effect of colors in your space. Just move the slider to the left or to the right. There’s one where the back wall is painted green, making it blend seamlessly with the plant hedge. The other one in yellow gives a zesty color to the outdoor space to make it feel fun and happy.

Assess your home and see if changing the paint colors in interior and exterior spaces would help elevate the look and feel of your home. Your assessment will get easier if you use the Visualizer tool in the Boysen app. It’s a digital tool that would make choosing colors easier for you.

Have fun with this project, whether you go digital and/or do it IRL!
