Gentle Soft Hues for a Child’s Room

My neighbors have a new baby. The way she cries at the top of her lungs several times a day, I can imagine the sleepless nights they’re having. But I am sure this difficulty (if it is that) is balanced by the many blessings that a baby brings.

We chose a soft pink for the video but you could have many different colors for a child’s room. We have posts on nurseries and children’s rooms to help you make the room really child-friendly as well as help you choose color palettes. Here are some of my favorites.

As Robina wrote, “I’m in love with the concept of Montessori. I love its aesthetics, its preference for light, soothing colors, and wooden tones. But above all, I love its philosophy on child development and I can’t wait to apply the same things to my own little bundle of joy someday.”

Bring on the Fun!

Bring on the Fun! Painting a Colorful Kid’s Room

Jill wrote, “Color psychology tells us that colors can affect mood, emotions, and even behavior. Warmer hues, like red, orange, and yellow, are energy-inducing. These are great for playrooms! Cooler hues, like blue, green, and purple, have the ability to evoke feelings of calmness. Child having trouble settling for bed? Cool colors may be of help.”

The Grey Palette as an Alternative for Baby Rooms

The Grey Palette as an Alternative for Baby Rooms

There are those who want to be gender neutral and have chosen yellow, or something safe like white. But what if you wanted a different look, something more sophisticated yet calming? Look at the gray colors, and see what you prefer—warm or cool grays.

If your baby room is lacking in natural light, then choose a warm grey because the hint of yellow or pink in it gives a warm and welcoming glow to the space. Have light-colored furnishings to highlight that airy and fresh feel. If you want to have a luxurious and serene ambience, then go for a cool grey.

Give Your Home a Fresh Look

You don’t need a baby to start new beginnings.

Give your home a fresh look with a new color. It will make an impact on your surroundings as well as yourself. If you think the project of repainting a home is too much, you can always break the project down into phases—like painting a room, making an accent wall, or changing the color of your wooden cabinets…
