We’ve got wonderful news! In September, Pin-Pin, Boysen’s adopted Philippine Eagle, laid an egg. Just recently, as we’ve learned through the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF), the egg has hatched and from it has come the most adorable baby chick!

Philippine Eagle Chick No. 30, as it’s currently named, was hatched at the newly established National Bird Breeding Sanctuary (NBBS) in Davao City on Nov. 11. It was no easy feat and was made possible only through the incredible efforts and commendable dedication of PEF.

Breeding season for the Philippine Eagles at PEF began in July. Cooperative artificial insemination, however, was required to produce and lay Pin-Pin’s egg. Pin-pin then dutifully incubated the egg for the first seven days which was then followed by a closely-monitored incubation through advanced equipment at NBBS until the egg’s hatching.

“This hatching marks a historic first for the NBBS, occurring just months after its establishment,” said Domingo Tadena, NBBS Facility Manager and PEF’s conservation breeding expert. “It proves that with cutting-edge technology, cross-cultural collaboration, and unwavering dedication, we can create new hope for the Philippine Eagle and ensure [that] future generations.”

Philippine Eagle Pin-Pin

It was in 2007 when Boysen adopted PEF’s then-youngest chick in their sanctuary—that chick was Pin-Pin. Since then and until today, Boysen has sponsored the care of Pin-Pin and has helped fund research efforts for the conservation and breeding of the Philippine Eagle.

“For several years, we have proudly supported the Philippine Eagle Foundation through our adoption of Pin-Pin. Seeing her contribute to the successful hatching of Chick No. 30 reaffirms our commitment to protecting this majestic species,” said Justin C. Ongsue, Boysen’s VP for Sales and Operations.

“We believe in the power of conservation partnerships, and we are honored to play a part in PEF’s tireless efforts to secure a future for the Philippine Eagle,” added Ongsue.

Boysen Paints is proud to support the conservation of our country’s wildlife and their forest habitat. In line with this, the paint company recently launched its Angat sa Lahat! campaign, done in partnership with PEF, which aims to spread awareness and information about our critically endangered national bird.

The campaign hopes to help bring the hearts of the Filipino people closer to the Philippine Eagle, one of the world’s largest forest raptors found nowhere else except in our homeland.

With the hatching of Chick No. 30, the future becomes brighter. Working together towards a common goal, we make things possible. Thank you to all those who strived to bring Chick No. 30 into the world. Welcome, little one!
