I’m wondering if I can mix Boysen Roofgard and Boysen Cool Shades together? I’ve been meaning to paint my roof with Cool Shades pero may extra 4 L pail pa ako ng Roofgard. Sayang din kasi.
Or, since we will be doing roof maintenance every year, puwede ba na 1 year naka-Cool Shades yung roof and then Roofgard coating the next year? Will it have an effect on the heat reflection?

Thanks for your message! Let’s go over each of your questions.
Mixing Different Products Together
Although it does seem like they can be mixed together since they’re both roof paints, the answer to your question is hindi puwede. You cannot mix Boysen Roofgard and Boysen Cool Shades together.
Pareho silang roof paints, oo, pero magkaiba pa rin silang produkto. All paint products are manufactured differently and each has properties and formulations specific to its intended use.
Generally, you can mix the SAME product together, such as mixing two colors of Roofgard together to get a different color. More often than not, however, we do not recommend mixing DIFFERENT products together.
Even if you’re mixing paints of the same type, such as two paint products that are both for metal surfaces, there might still be components of each of those products that are not compatible. Mixing and using them together can result in unwanted paint reactions. (This is one example of paint incompatibility. Learn more about it here.)
Applying Roofgard on Top of Cool Shades
Now, for your second question. Unfortunately, hindi na magiging effective ang heat-reflecting feature ng Cool Shades kapag pinatungan ito ng Roofgard.
Cool Shades only works if it’s directly hit by the sun. Its heat-reflecting pigments take sunlight hitting your roof and bounce it back to the atmosphere before it has a chance to turn into heat that gets absorbed into your home. ‘Di niya ‘to magagawa if may Roofgard na nakapatong.
Of course, if you want to, you can do it the other way around. You can apply Roofgard for one year and then Cool Shades the next. Para ‘di sayang yung isang lata ng Roofgard!
Regular Roof Maintenance
I applaud you, by the way, for doing regular roof maintenance. It may be the rainy season now in the Philippines but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for the hot months to come.
