Better to be prepared now than to have to fix problems later on. Choose a paint product that is durable in whatever weather. Boysen Acrytex can withstand the harsh heat of the sun and protect your home during downpours. Here’s what you need to know about it.
What is Boysen Acrytex
Boysen Acrytex is an acrylic, solvent-based paint product. Popular for use on exteriors, it is known for its long-term durability and weatherability. It can be used on concrete and wooden surfaces.
How Acrytex Prevents Water Seepage
Exceptionally durable and watertight, Boysen Acrytex is a sought-after paint product for exteriors because of its weatherability. As its iconic song goes, “umaraw man o uulan, di sasablay.”
When applied, Boysen Acrytex creates a seamless, non-porous film that can repel water and prevent seepage. This gives your home protection from heavy downpours. Because of its inherent properties, it serves as a moisture sealant for concrete and even as a stain inhibitor for wood.
Moreover, Boysen Acrytex adheres firmly to the surface it’s painted on, making it unlikely that you’ll see it crack, flake, peel, yellow, or discolor. It will be a long while before you see it aging.
How to Apply Boysen Acrytex
Before anything else, make sure you’re working on a bare surface or a surface previously already painted with Boysen Acrytex. Boysen Acrytex should not be painted on top of other paints as this will cause adverse reactions and paint problems. Carry out any necessary surface preparation before you move on to painting.
When the surface is properly prepped and is clean and dry, prime the surface with Boysen Acrytex Primer. Wait for at least 2 hours for it to dry. Then, for minor surface imperfections, use Boysen Acrytex Cast as putty and wait for at least 4 hours for this to dry. Spot prime any puttied areas with the same primer afterward.
Now, apply your topcoat. Finish with at least two coats of Boysen Acrytex topcoat, waiting at least 2 hours between each coat.
How to Get Acrytex in Other Colors
Boysen Acrytex is only readily available in white but can be tinted to achieve other colors using Boysen Acrytex Tinting Colors.
Boysen Acrytex Tinting Colors are mixed into the Acrytex topcoat to change its color. With these colorants, you can achieve pastel to medium shades for your home. Mixing in two or more tinting colors creates even more color options.
Remember, however, not to add too much colorant as this will affect the paint base. The maximum ratio of Boysen paint to Boysen colorant is 1:16. This means you can mix no more than 1/4 liter or 250 mL of colorant–whether you’re using one color of colorant or several–into 1 gallon (approx. 4.5 liters) of paint.
Additional Tips and Tricks for Boysen Acrytex
Apply with a Spray Gun for a Textured Finish
After you’ve primed and puttied is when you’ll apply the texture. To do this, thin Acytex Cast with Boysen Acrytex Reducer until it’s a sprayable consistency. Spray the mixture onto the surface using a mortar gun.
Fine, medium, and coarse textures can be achieved depending on the distance and the pressure of spraying. Wet a wooden roller and roll it over the textured surface to flatten the finish. Apply your Acrytex topcoat afterward.
Watch Out for Cobwebbing During Application
Cobwebbing is a coating defect where web-like material appears on the surface as you’re applying the paint. This happens when paint dries too quickly on the surface.
To counter cobwebbing, Boysen experts advise taking care not to overcoat the paint. Do not repeatedly go over an area with your roller or brush. Just a few strokes will do. If cobwebbing remains an issue, you can also opt to thin your Acrytex with Acrytex Reducer at a max ratio of 4:1 respectively.
