Another year is upon us. Congratulations on making it through! Now that the celebrations are over, it’s time to get to work. Stop procrastinating with these home tasks and start the year right.

Carry Out Minor Repairs

We get it. When life gets busy, as it tends to do, we tend to forgo fixing minor home inconveniences for another day. They’re annoying but not alarming enough to warrant an immediate fix. There are much bigger things that need attending to after all. But, let’s not allow these problems to survive another year.

Common minor repairs around the home include changing dim fluorescent lights, silencing a squeaky door, replacing broken handles, and even fixing a leaky faucet if it’s just the faucet that’s the issue. Minor repairs shouldn’t take the whole day. In fact, you can get several done in one. Make a list of items to buy at the hardware store, bring out your toolbox, and start.

Deep Clean

Leave the icky feeling behind. Thorough cleaning that leaves no spot unscrubbed isn’t an easy task, granted. But you know for certain you’ll feel good after. Deep cleaning will refresh both your home and you.

Tackle the toughest ones first and dive into deep cleaning your bathroom and kitchen. When was the last time you got rid of the gunk on your grout? Then, breathe fresher air. Check if your electric fans have collected dust and see if you need to clean out the filters in your air conditioners. Surely you have more ideas on what else needs deep cleaning in your home.

Declutter

Without you noticing, clutter can have a direct impact on your home life. When you’re around clutter, it can make you feel stressed and overwhelmed making it difficult to relax. You don’t want that when you’ve already had a tiring day, don’t you?

Decluttering and organizing a space, especially if it already feels like it’s overrun with mess, is definitely easier said than done. However, clutter is a bane to both your home’s aesthetics and your mental health. Trust us, you’ll even feel better once the mess goes. Keep the essentials and get rid of the things that you rarely use.

Plan a Repaint

How’s your facade and gate looking? How about your roof? A little bit of paint goes a long, long way. Check to see if any walls and other surfaces inside or outside your home need a repaint. Plan to repaint during the summer months so you’re ready for the rainy days.

There’s a NEED to repaint when you see paint problems like blistering, peeling, and rusting. Cracks, especially, can turn very bothersome as these can lead to water seepage and leaks. You don’t need to see paint problems to WANT to repaint either. Faded, discolored, and stained paint doesn’t look good and can call for a repaint. Or, you may just want a change of color. The new year is what you make it.

Good luck and here’s to another colorful year!
