Prepare your home for the holidays by considering warm metallics like brushed brass, copper, and rose gold. They have the shine of gold but their colors veer into red or mustard. This would give a different feel to the classic red-gold-green theme, or the silver and white Christmas colors.
It doesn’t stop at Christmas though. You can change your hardware for cabinet pulls, door handles or knobs, or bathroom and kitchen faucets to have these accent colors. Even lights and other home accessories could have these colors too.
More and more people want to have a cozy, warm vibe in their homes. So it is expected that the use of warm metallics will continue for the next years.
Brushed Brass
Take brushed brass, for example. It has an antique appearance, the visible brushed markings usually applied by hand also give it a unique look. Because of the textured finish, the look has more of a matte look than polished brass. It does shine, but more subtly, than polished brass or gold.
The brushed finish adds depth, a good addition to a home full of textures that celebrates the sense of touch.
For contrast, use paint colors like classic black and/or white, soft gray, deep blue, rich green, or warm terracotta.
Copper
Copper has a reddish-orange hue that develops a green patina when exposed to the elements. You can, of course, stop its oxidation (and its green patina) if a clear protective coating is applied.
Similar to brushed brass, copper goes well with navy blue, emerald green, terracotta, and neutrals like white, beige, gray, and black. To show you a more dramatic look, the copper mood board above is paired with navy blues, dark wood, and black. But if you want to keep the color palette light, it can also look good.
Rose Gold
Rose gold became popular in Russia in the 19th century. During the Victorian Era’s soft pink fashion trend, the use of rose gold spread to Europe. Today, rose gold remains popular and has experienced an increased demand from young consumers with the push from social media.
Years ago, I wrote about a girly-girl’s ultra-feminine bedroom. This is the kitchen that can go with it. You can achieve that high gloss finish on your kitchen cabinets by using Boysen Automotive Lacquer. Don’t DIY, call the paint experts for that perfect finish.
Rose gold doesn’t only go with blush pink. For an elegant look, pair it with white, cream, beige, and grays. Think of classic materials like marble and glass. However, if you want a dark and dramatic color palette, you can pair rose gold with black, navy, or teal.
If you want to add warmth and to make sure that your combination does not become too stark or too cold, bring in warm wood tones. Watch Bea explain the different Boysen wood staining products.
Bring in Some Shine
Bring in the shimmer of warm metallics into your home, not only for Christmas. You’ve got three beautiful choices here with brushed brass, copper, and rose gold. You can go for a monochromatic look to achieve a quiet elegance, a contrasting palette for some drama, or a feminine feel with rose gold.
All metal hues can work well with natural materials like wood, stone, clay, natural fibers, or the bare cement finishes of the Konstrukt Lunar Series.
Should you be thinking about tweaking your home design in time for the Christmas get-togethers, then think of easy changes for home decor like pillows, home accessories, lights, and hardware (like cabinet pulls), in warm metallics.
