Your roof goes through a lot day in and day out. Year-round, it has to deal with scorching heat from the sun and unforgiving rains. Typhoon season in the Philippines can be especially brutal. And, with water comes the possibility of rusting which then leads to holes and leaks. Make sure your roof is protected from possible damage with a reliable roof paint like Boysen Roofgard.
What is Boysen Roofgard
Boysen Roofgard is an acrylic water-based roof paint specially formulated to be long-lasting and durable. It has excellent adhesion to surfaces it’s applied on, and its thermoplastic film remains flexible over time even with changing weather which prevents it from cracking and peeling.
It will keep you dry during heavy downpours as well. Homeowners will be happy to know that Boysen Roofgard is designed to protect roofs against rusting with its specially formulated acrylic binder and pigment combination. Remember, rusting is one surefire way for your roof to get holes and leaks.
Boysen Roofgard provides excellent UV resistance and good gloss retention so your paint will retain its original color for many years.
Standard Colors of Boysen Roofgard
Boysen Roofgard has several readily available colors for you to choose from, including ones that are typical of Filipino homes. To name a few, there’s Baguio Green, Terra Cotta, and Chocolate Brown.
If you would like more color options, you can opt to mix these standard colors to achieve more shades. You should not, however, use tinting colors with Boysen Roofgard. This will lead to adverse reactions such as uneven color and, worse, paint film problems upon drying.
How to Apply Boysen Roofgard
Carry out proper surface preparation procedures depending on the state and condition of your metal. Instructions for these can be found here. If you’re repainting a metal roof, you can also check out this Boysen PinTanong video guide.
For priming galvanized iron sheets, choose from Boysen Red Oxide, Boysen Rust-Off Gray, and Boysen Epoxy Primer. If you have unglazed roof tiles, use Boysen Permacoat B-701 White or Boysen EcoPrimer.
Now, it’s time to paint your topcoat. Apply 2 coats of Boysen Roofgard in your desired color. Allow for 2 hours of drying time in between each coat.
Tips and Reminders for Boysen Roofgard
Use It for Other Metal Surfaces
It has “roof” in its name, but Roofgard is a metal paint product you can use for other areas of the house too. This includes metal gates, fences, trellises, and other galvanized surfaces.
It has excellent adhesion and good corrosion resistance thanks to its specially formulated acrylic binder and pigment combination. Pair it with a Boysen metal primer for best results.
Don’t Add Paint Thinner
One of the pros of Boysen Roofgard is that it’s a water-based paint. Because of this, when you want to thin it, you only need to use water.
You can thin Roofgard with not more than 1/2 liter of clean water per 4-liter can of paint. Don’t use paint thinner as this will not mix well with a water-based paint like Roofgard.
