Since 2015, Boysen has released Color Trend, a series offering paint palettes from colors that represent the social and cultural currents of the times. With Boysen Color Trend 2026/2027 releasing soon, let’s have a color trend throwback in anticipation. I’ve curated a set of hues which I believe have become timeless staples for designing our home. To be fair, all Color Trend hues have gained some semblance of timelessness, but let’s take a look at a few crowd favorites.
From the Maximal Palette, Rebel Yell (2017)
When the new colors were unveiled nine years ago, there was already a discourse on the way of life of homeowners. Do we prefer our home living be simple and clean, or exuberant and lush? This divergence of opinions is what enabled the creation of the Maximal and Minimal Palettes from Boysen Color Trend 2017.
This color choice coming from the Maximal palette does not mean victory for the cluttercore enthusiasts. Rather, this loud and proud shade of blue is selected to express authenticity. Imagine your wall with this color, personalized with your favorite posters and prints. The Maximal Palette represents the bravery that comes in showing one’s true self, practiced through the choices in one’s home.
From the Be Here Palette, Forest Ranger (2018)
When it comes to unique green colors for your home, Forest Ranger offers comfortability. It is a shade that cultivates the essence of a safe space. Boysen Color Trend 2018 invited an immersion to being, to a journey of discovery.
This color also gives homage to environmental defenders—staunch warriors to the call of sustainability and ecological stewardship, the same principles Boysen believes in. Practicing this idea, the release of Color Trend back in 2018 also included interior design recommendations per palette. The Be Here Palette, in particular, was introduced to color a Country Farmhouse or Modern Organic home, interior styles with notable characteristics of sustainability.
From the Engage Palette, Liberty Bloc (2019)
Endeavors was the leitmotif of Boysen Color Trend 2019, presenting colors to “reflect a world that demands clarity of human intention.” The Engage Palette was designed thinking about how everything being digital needed physical presence as well. A bright yellow, the boldness of this hue is joined by other bold colors that seek to accentuate each other.
Homes in this color perpetuate presence and motion. It is invigorating and stimulating, which is why this color, and the palette it is part of, has been well-received after all these years. More than giving homes personality, it is also a statement of one’s motivation and drive.
From the Nostalgia Palette, Razzle Dazzle (2020-2021)
The release of Boysen Color Trend 2020, aptly named Vision 20/20, had to navigate various unexpected circumstances. Still, the colors even further solidified the importance of forging through life’s challenges, reminding the need to cherish moments and unify with one another. Then and now, giving in to nostalgia means acknowledging the past and moving forward with clearer purpose.
This lyrical palette turned the melancholic tendency of nostalgia, into an expression of bliss and energy. Razzle Dazzle is a heightened red among equally exciting colors, referencing pre-2000s aesthetics. It reinvents the classics with contemporary youthfulness, sure to bring earnest pleasure into one’s home.
From the Move Palette, Purple Power Revolution (2022-2023)
It hasn’t even been that long ago, but the impetus of Flourish of Boysen Color Trend 2022/2023 has felt like a reminder of the past. The palettes respond to post-pandemic wisdom, taking inspiration from the four elements. While visually and thematically distinct from one another, the palettes are unified in its shared call to take a stand, trailblaze, and savor the present.
Purple Power Revolution from the Move Palette is an exciting purple-pink hue that gets you going. Intense and saturated, it’s a beloved color for accent walls or color blocking moments. It’s attention-grabbing, perfect for homeowners who believe that the secret to life is in playfulness and freedom.
