Why Choose Boysen Automotive Lacquer for Your Home
Boysen Automotive Lacquer is a nitrocellulose lacquer-type paint that’s capable of giving you an attractive Duco finish.
You might know paints that give a Duco finish as “automotive lacquers” as they resemble the reflective sheen of cars. Duco finishes have a distinct high-gloss appearance. It’s even shinier than typical gloss paints, so much so that you can almost see your reflection in it.
Aside from the high-gloss shine, Automotive Lacquer has all the other qualities that come with a Duco finish. It’s durable, rapid-drying, and water-resistant.
How to Get Boysen Automotive Lacquer in Other Colors
Boysen Automotive Lacquer is only readily available in white and black. You won’t find it in any other colors in hardware stores or depots. However, thanks to colorants, you can mix paint colors yourself to achieve it in other hues. All you need is Boysen Automotive Lacquer Tinting Colors.
Boysen Automotive Lacquer Tinting Colors are essentially concentrated colors that are mixed into your Automotive Lacquer topcoat in white to change its color. With these colorants, you can achieve pastel to medium shades for your home. These tinting colors come in several hues and you don’t just have to use one color at a time. Mixing in two or more tinting colors creates even more color options.
With that said, whenever you’re working with colorants, you have to make sure that you follow the set ratio. The maximum ratio of Boysen paint to Boysen colorant is 1:16. This means you can mix no more than 1/4 liter or 250 mL of colorant into 1 gallon (approx. 4.5 liters) of paint.
Going beyond the recommended amount of colorant compromises the sheen, color, and performance of your coating.

Again, tinting colors can get you light colors—but not dark ones. If you want Automotive Lacquer in darker colors, it would have to be custom-made at the Boysen factory. To do this, place a special order at a Boysen-accredited dealer. Your paint will take a bit of time to get to you so only do so if you’re in no rush.
