Hello Lettie,
I just recently purchased 2 gallons of Boysen Aquaseal. To my surprise, it’s a clear liquid. Is this correct? Is Boysen Aquaseal supposed to be a clear liquid?
Thank you for your answer.
From,
Boysen User M
Hi Boysen User M,
Thanks for your question!
To put your mind at ease, I can definitely say that, yes, Boysen Aquaseal is indeed a clear coat product. This means when you open the packaging, you’ll see a clear liquid inside.
It’s not the only Boysen clear coat product either. To name others, there’s also Boysen Clear Acrylic Emulsion, Boysen Acrytex Clear Coat, and Boysen Matte Shield. Each of these has its own use and function. Let’s set aside the others for now and talk a bit about Boysen Aquaseal.

What is Boysen Aquaseal
Boysen Aquaseal is a silicone-based penetrating sealer designed to provide protection and maximum water repellency to masonry and stone surfaces. Use it on exterior concrete, stone, or brick walls you want to keep pristine for as long as possible.
Aside from repelling water and moisture, it can also beautify and enhance the natural look of whatever you’re applying it on with the help of its matte finish. Plus, it can also minimize the unsightly appearance of efflorescence that’s common for stone surfaces.

How to Use Boysen Aquaseal
Aquaseal can be used on a wide variety of aboveground masonry and stone surfaces including concrete, brick, rubble, and sandblast finishes.
It functions as both a clear sealer and topcoat which means you can apply it directly to bare substrate and have no need to apply anything afterward. With that said, note that Aquaseal should only be used on bare surfaces. It will not work as intended when applied to a surface with an existing coating.

Apply Aquaseal liberally to the surface with a brush. Coat enough to sufficiently saturate whatever you want to protect. Use it straight out of the can–don’t thin it. And it can’t be applied with a spray either–just a brush.
That’s about it! If you still have questions I haven’t answered, you can get in touch with the Boysen Technical Services Department for a one-on-one consultation. Call (02) 8363-9738 local 413 to 418.
Wishing you luck on your project!
