We’ve got new videos episodes coming in the next weeks, which we call Rooms Reimagined. Jean from our Christmas 2024 mini makeovers is back to host the coming episodes of real-life interiors, where she presents interior design changes based on the homeowner’s wishes.
This first episode is about artist Ben’s workspace that he wants Jean to redesign.
Recommended Boysen Products for the Digital Makeover
For the walls
Jean chose to have the Kashmir finish from the Konstrukt Lunar Series. It is smooth to the touch and has a slight sheen that would look good in this living room that doubles as an artist makerspace. What’s great about this product is it gives a faux cement look that is beloved by homeowners today who like the modern industrial style.
The Konstrukt line is not a DIY product. You’d need painters who have been trained by Boysen to apply this product on your walls. You would need ordinary Portland cement, or in this case white cement, to mix with Konstrukt Permaplast K-201 High-Performance Acrylic Skimcoat.
You would need to protect the Kashmir finish, so there are other products needed for this step. For a more detailed painting schedule, click on this link.
For the crown moulding
Jean chose Boysen Permacoat Latex in warm yellow called Hair Ribbon | BCP-0809 to give the room a cheerful, sunny vibe. This warmth adds to the sunlight streaming into the room.
For the calado
Homeowner Ben wanted to keep the calado, a decorative latticework usually made of wood that traditional Filipino architecture uses. This allows for additional light and ventilation, and adornment as well.
For the calado, Jean opted for Boysen Xyladecor in the color Chestnut | BX-105. Xyladecor is a deep penetrating type of wood stain that has water repellent and wood preserving properties. It can be used in exterior and interior surfaces.
For the center table
Boysen Xyladecor is also used to stain the kidney-shaped edges of the center table. This time, Mahogany | BX-107 is the color used.
Watch this video to see the difference between the Xyladecor and Wood stain and how to apply these products.
For the peg board
Lastly for the peg board, Jean chose Boysen Quick-Drying Enamel in this lovely green shade called Nile Green | B-650.
Artist Makerspace
For someone like Ben who loves to create art toys, comics, pottery. and paintings, a studio that also doubles as his living room needs a palette that is lively and warm, comfortable and laid-back. The color palette of wooden tones, white walls, yellow crown moulding, green peg board, plus the blue of the ottoman and gray of the sofa, gives this kind of vibe—welcoming and relaxing to encourage creative pursuits.
