Jean is back again with a third Rooms Reimagined video, this time for the bedroom makeover of a movie buff.

Gina will be moving into the former bedroom of her grandfather. She wants the bedroom to have a fresh feel to it, something that fits her personality and her way of life.

Recommended Boysen Products for the Digital Makeover

Don’t change architectural details if these are going to still work for you. This brings down costs and helps you move into the space much quicker.

In this project, the tiled floor will be left unchanged. The changes are to be found in the wall colors, the furniture and accessories, as well as the layout, to fit the new resident’s tastes and needs.

For the wall

Jean did not want to paint the whole room with just one color but two instead.

A light gray called Limitless | BCT 20-7017S from the Boysen Permacoat Latex line coats the walls. This beautiful gray color is from the META palette of the Boysen Color Trend 2020/21. Click on the link for META if you want to find the other palette colors that go with this hue.

Boysen Permacoat Latex is a hardworking 100% acrylic paint that can be used for interiors and exteriors. It is a quality paint that offers excellent hiding, which means that you get an even-colored surface even with the recommended minimum number of coats. Check the painting schedule in this link to ensure a beautiful surface.

The second wall substrate is made of floor-to-ceiling wood which has been stained with Xyladecor Teak | BX-103, a deep brown tone which dries to a silk matte finish that emphasize the beauty of the wood grain. The same stain is used for the doors. Because of the matte finish, this stain is perfect for a movie buff’s den. Matte minimizes the light bouncing off the walls and keeps eyes glued to the screen.

Boysen Xyladecor is a solvent-based, deep penetrating type of stain that combines decorative, water repellent, and wood preserving properties in one. This product also prevents the growth of mold and fungi.

For the open wardrobe and console tables

The open wardrobe and console tables are stained with Boysen Xyladecor Mahogany | BX-107. Choose a different stain if you don’t want your wood surfaces to look too matchy-matchy.  A comfortable two-seater sofa holds pride of place in front of the wall-mounted TV.  A coffee table is added to place munchies for those exciting movie nights.

For the nightstand

Get a nightstand that has drawers for additional storage. You can paint different colors for the drawers. If you do that, make sure that you keep the underlying tone consistent. In this case, gray is the underlying tone that ties up the colors. Here are the paint names and codes:

  • yellow – Ivory | B-621
  • light blue – Bridgewater Bay | BCP-0650
  • sage – Goddess Green | BCP-0723

Boysen Quick Drying Enamel is perfect for a nightstand because it provides substantial durability. It is formulated to give a tough and beautiful finish on wood and metal surfaces. Its superior hiding properties, combined with an exceptionally high gloss level, lead to an excellent, long-lasting finish.

Zoning the Space

Gina’s redecorated bedroom has two zones—a space for sleeping and a space for watching movies. You can create distinct zones without having to build a wall in between. In this digital makeover, the following have been done:

  • furniture placement is important: a console table divides the two zones
  • put two rugs with different prints, get these to work well together by mixing prints in the same tonal range, and choosing patterns that are similar
  • use different light sources to define each area

Lastly, Jean brought in Gina’s decor and accessories to enhance the visual appeal of the space in keeping with Gina’s personality and taste.
