Boysen Acrytex has many products in its lineup. To name some, there’s Acrytex Primer, Topcoat, Cast, and Sealer. Let’s talk about that last one!
By the way, if you’re looking for info on the other Acrytex products, we’ve already discussed them in this blog. Type in “Acrytex” in the search bar to check them out.
What is Boysen Acrytex Sealer

Concrete is inherently porous. The porous nature of concrete means water and moisture can pass through and penetrate it which can then, as you can imagine, lead to problems. This is where Boysen Acrytex Sealer comes in.
Boysen Acrytex Sealer creates a layer of protection against water and moisture on concrete surfaces. It does this by filling in the pores of the concrete, essentially turning the surface non-porous, helping it repel water and moisture that can cause all sorts of issues.
It’s for this reason that it’s an especially useful product for structures in high humidity areas or colder climates like Baguio, per the engineers at the Boysen Technical Service Department. If this sounds like you, consider getting a container of Acrytex Sealer.
How It Differs from Boysen Acrytex Clear Coat

Boysen Acrytex Clear Coat is used as a clear coat protection for bricks, natural stone, masonry, and wooden surfaces. It gives the surfaces it’s applied a beautiful glossy finish that’s also easy to clean.
A key difference is that Boysen Acrytex Sealer is applied on bare concrete while Boysen Acrytex Clear Coat is used as a topcoat on the surfaces mentioned. As a topcoat, the latter helps protect surfaces from the elements and keep them looking pristine for as long as possible.
How to Use Boysen Acrytex Sealer
For Painting

When painting, use Boysen Acrytex Sealer on bare concrete. Wait for at least an hour of drying then proceed with your chosen primer. You can choose to go with the Acrytex system, including Acrytex Primer, Cast, and Topcoat, or a water-based Boysen product such as Permacoat.
Starting with Acrytex Sealer before primer helps prevent paint problems like efflorescence which is caused by water passing through a concrete wall.
For Faux Cement Finishes

Several designs from Konstrukt Lunar Series also call for Boysen Acrytex Sealer. It’s typically used after the design is created to protect the finish from wear and tear.
For example, in the popular Kaiser finish, one coat of Acrytex Sealer is applied when the 7 days curing of the design has passed. Then, as a final topcoat, to give a matte finish and to add additional protection, 2 coats of Boysen Matte Shield is sprayed.
