Choosing paint products for a project can get confusing, especially for those new to painting. If you have a metal painting project lined up, this guide lists Boysen’s metal primers with short summaries to help you quickly differentiate between each one.

Boysen Red Oxide Metal Primer

For your everyday needs, Boysen Red Oxide has many uses around the home. It can be applied on interior and exterior metal surfaces such as steel and iron. This includes galvanized iron sheets or yero typically used for roofs. Other areas of the house to use it on include metal gates, fences, doors, beams, framings, railings, and stairs.

With reliable rust-inhibiting properties and a distinct red color, Boysen Red Oxide is an alkyd-based metal primer that protects surfaces from corrosion. It can be used for painting projects involving new metal surfaces and repainting rusted metal surfaces. Remember to follow proper surface preparation procedures in both situations to ensure your metal stays rust-free for as long as possible.

Being a water-based metal primer, it has a quicker drying time compared to solvent-based ones at just 2 hours. It’s also low odor and non-flammable. It is, however, not recommended for use on repainting projects and metal surfaces with existing rusting.
