During this Holy Week, we’d like to present two sombre hues from the Alchemy palette of the Boysen Color Trend 2024-25. These colors are dark and dramatic, and can be a way to bring in a more enclosed and intimate atmosphere to a space.
The Alchemy palette is a paint palette with intense colors, which gives off a mysterious vibe. Fitting for a palette called Alchemy. If you want mystery and depth to your interiors, the palette colors are something you can play with.
Not many Filipino homeowners like to use dark colors for their interior spaces. If ever they do, these hues are used on accent walls or as little touches around a room. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, I’d recommend this. If you come from having light neutral or pastel walls, this would be a good start because it’s not so shocking.
These are the two really dark colors.
Mage’s Cloak (BCT24-7442S)
Many statues found in the carrozzas during Semana Santa wear purple costumes. Not only statues, but even people like community members, devotees, and penitents wear this color.
The purple color during Holy Week symbolizes penitence, and hopefully repentance as well, in preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The color purple also symbolizes luxury, royalty, and spirituality. Painting a room with this color could bring in that luxe and sophisticated ambience. If you are attracted to this color, paint your private space with this color like your bedroom, a man cave, or she shed.
Mage’s Cloak is also a beautiful color for a space where you practice esoteric pursuits like yoga or meditation.
Obsidian (BCT24-7912S)
This paint hue gets its inspiration from the obsidian crystal, a stone known to symbolize protection, safety, and grounding. Faith offers all these, and faith is something we need during these chaotic times. Be mindful of your thoughts, and draw near to thoughts of love, peace, and connection to your God and the people you hold dear.
This color on your walls is also a good way to showcase furniture and accessories that hold much meaning for you, not so much because of their price but because of the sentimental value these hold for you. Dark gray is a color that can underscore the intricacies of your collection.
Dark Colors of the Alchemy Palette
Over the years, we have written about Boysen’s dark and moody colors, and styling tips on how to use them.
I know many are hesitant about using such dark colors in your home. I also had the same hesitation years ago, but I had a very good architect who took me under his wing. When he proposed a color as dark as Mage’s Cloak, I didn’t hesitate, and I have no regrets since. It’s a wonderful accent wall in my living room that makes the space look even bigger because it creates the illusion of depth.
