The months have whooshed by with the speed of a bullet train that we now find ourselves in the middle of 2026, still hurtling towards destinations unknown. It wasn’t so long ago that we talked about Cloud Dancer, the Pantone color of this year. which the company described as “lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection.”
White is like a palate cleanser that allows us to fully appreciate all other colors. In fact, it is the background color that does justice to all other colors by showing them in their full glory.
Through the years, we’ve written so many articles about the Boysen whites and off-whites. It would be good to revisit the beauty of white paint and its impact on a home’s look and feel.
Why is white paint a staple in many designers’ and homeowners’ design kit?
The Blank Canvas
White is known as a “true neutral” because it doesn’t have any color undertones. Pure white can look sterile and clinical so go for warm whites with yellow, beige, or pink undertones that can make a room feel soft and cozy. You can also opt for cool whites with blue and gray undertones, that can make a room feel fresh and modern.
Being a blank canvas is the reason why it’s the preferred color of rental apartments owned by landlords who repaint the walls white before turning over their properties to new tenants. There are those who don’t care about this additional service so if that’s your experience, you can read this post about how to transform a dark, dingy rental apartment into a cozy, inviting home.

We’ve got a white paint that has been so popular for the past decades. It’s Tulle White. Click on the link to familiarize yourself with this very versatile paint color. It also comes in different sheens—flat, semi-gloss, satin, and matte. If you choose Boysen Permacoat Latex, this can be used for interior and exterior surfaces such as concrete, bricks, plaster, and drywalls. It’s not only versatile, it is also known for its durability, weather resistance, and strong color retention.
This could be the darling of #teamputi homeowners who like to have a clean canvas to work with. Those who are renovating and already own furniture and accessories, this white paint can work with any other color. So it’s going to be easy-peasy, even for those who are not very confident about choosing colors.
Make the Space Look Bigger

Most homeowners in the country have small homes. Some who live in condos even have spaces that are as small as 18 to 30 square meters.
White is the perfect paint color to give your home the illusion of space. White walls reflect light and cause boundaries to recede. The visual effect is having a space that appears bigger and more open.
Pumice Stone has a yellow undertone adding a warm glow to the room.
Let There be Light

White is highly reflective. This is the color you choose if you have hardly any natural light coming into your room. Small, dark, and cramped spaces can instantly get a leg up from white paint, and make it feel airy. White Shoulders which has a very slight tinge of gray, making it a very soft and light greige, a cool color that’s versatile enough to pair with both warm and cool colors. The results would be elegant and modern.
This may be important to also consider in these times: White brightens a room naturally and helps you be more energy efficient.
A Perfect Backdrop

Shell Tint has a green undertone and can help highlight wooden furniture and other art works you may own. Whatever the undertone though, white is always an easy background color. If you love and own beautiful paintings, posters, and other art pieces, white walls will not compete with the beauty of your things, and would, in fact, highlight them. The same is true if you have many architectural details in your home, like archways or moldings, that will be highlighted by white walls.
A Place of Calm

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, said, “Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.” Although this is true, sometimes it’s not even focus one wants for the home. Many of us want the psychological feeling of serenity and security. Just About White certainly provides that.
