Repainting wood surfaces
Generally, if the paint system you would be using is the same as the existing paint, you only need to scrape any loose or peeling paint, then sand until the wood is even.
Though if you are refurbishing wood furniture and don’t know the kind of existing paint used, it’s best to strip the existing paint completely using a paint and varnish remover. This will ensure the new paint will adhere well on the wood you’re working on.
Stripping to bare is important, especially if you want to switch to a type of coating like a duco finish or a clear stain. If you want to change the color or style of your wood furnishing, follow the correct procedure for an excellent output.
Repainting metal surfaces
When repainting metals like your roofs or stairs, you first need to inspect the quality of the surface. If the existing paint is in good condition, you only need to sand lightly. Then, you may paint over, applying at least two coats of the topcoat of your choice.
If there is peeling or flaking, strip those out, then spot prime areas of the metal surface that are bare. You can then apply the paint of your choice. Repainting with water-based paints
When repainting concrete walls or drywall with existing paint in good condition, you only need to lightly sand. Before applying paint, always ensure the walls are free from dirt, oil or grime. If you’re repainting from a dark color to a lighter color, priming first with white is important. Be sure to also check if your chosen paint color needs a colored primer. When that’s the case, prime first with their respective primer (CP60 or CP70).
Repainting with Acrytex
