Home offices became an essential space in the home when Covid lockdowns were announced. Work from home (WFH) even got its own acronym, and so did WFO which stands for work from office, when the lockdowns lifted.
There is no government mandate that says employees should now go to their offices physically to work there. It all depends on the sector, economic and weather advisories, and company discretion.
However, many homeowners have kept their home offices, whether it’s a separate room or a corner of another space like the living room, even if those using them go to the office physically every day.
Dopamine Home Office
For this moodboard video, we’ve chosen to make one for a home office. We’ve chosen an uber colorful one in the Memphis style.
Italian architect and product designer Ettore Sottsass was one of the main drivers of the Memphis style in the 1980s. Its a vibrant, maximalist style that rejected minimalism. Its known for playful squiggles, bright clashing colors, and bold geometric shapes. This is the design used for this moodboard, as translated into this office that uses dopamine decor.
Dopamine, the feel-good hormone, drives motivation, aids in focus and memory, and regulates heart rate. All are needed to be more effective in whatever project you are doing. An added advantage is the feeling of joy and happiness to be in such colorful surroundings.
The Moodboard

The moodboard has the bold colors needed for dopamine decor, the shapes that are part of the Memphis style, and neutrals to let all these vibrant elements breathe.
What can be more vibrant than the primary colors red, yellow, and blue. Below you will find the swatches and the paint names and codes for each color using the Boysen Permacoat Latex line.

If the primary colors are the mainstays in a color wheel, so is Boysen Permacoat Latex. This is one of Boysen’s quality. paints that provides excellent hiding and outstanding durability. For such a product, you need less coats which would be more economical in the long run.
Other product features that make this such an uber product are:
- It can be used on various surfaces, such as concrete, brick, plaster, and drywall.
- It is formu;ated for use in both exterior and interior surfaces.
- It can be used as a primer and a topcoat.
- It is available in 3 sheens: flat, semi-gloss, and gloss.
- It is a water-based paint so it is odor-less, meaning it does not have that strong chemical smell usually associated with solvent-based paint.
- It is available in thousands of colors. If you want to create a special color for yourself, you can mix your own using tinting colors. Learn how to use Boysen colorants for the different Boysen products here.

Here are two other colors used in the moodboard. Both are pastels that would help make the bright colors stand out even more.
Loud and Proud Home Office
Bring the confidence and boldness that your home office exudes into your own working style. Those who are in the position to manage a high-performing team or be part of one, who need to make strategic and complex decisions, and who need to imbue your colleagues with a contagious happy and bubbly attitude to align everyone around a shared purpose, can get a leg up from a home office that helps you bring your A-game to produce the best results.
And if you’re the solitary type who maximizes your talent better if you’re alone, can also benefit from this Memphis style home workspace.

Memphis interior design is a retro aesthetic which blends Art Deco and pop art. It is still very much relevant in today’s design scene.
I can imagine that for creative thinkers, this kind of office is appealing. It combines chaos and order, solemnity and absurdity, which is more fitting to a non-linear kind of thinking that doesn’t follow a step-by-step path from A to B, but instead jumps disciplines, and forms associative connections between seemingly unrelated concepts.
