The Be You palette of Color Trend 2018 is a mix of cool colors, pastels and light, earthy neutrals. These are colors that can reflect the comfort and safety that a haven offers. It’s a wonderful place to be where you can relax, be comfortable in your own skin and just be yourself. No need for masks or a stiff upper lip. Facial muscles are not required to express anything but what you feel.

Be You is a color palette that provides the healing hues for rest and refuge, a space where you can withdraw for a while from the frenetic pace of your day, and just take deep breaths to recover, to heal, and to top up your energy to be able to handle life’s vicissitudes.

See how SM Home’s AVP for Marketing Tom Castaneda and professional stylist Love Ocampo designed a bedroom and kitchen respectively in the Be You colors.

The Subdued Colors for the Kitchen

Love chose the subdued colors of the Be You palette, namely, Strange Brew, Private Stock, Skin is In and Bluegrass Suite, for the kitchen. She chose white as the base color for the cabinetry and shelving. The light wooden table top and chairs echo the light color scheme chosen from the palette. The bronze sheen of the coffeemaker and toaster on the countertop are definitely eye catchers.

Be Yourself in Your Bedroom

Using geometric patterns as influenced by Scandinavian interior design makes for a strong statement. That is what Tom did to the bedroom wall by having the zigzag lines painted in the blue grey of New Breed against a wall painted in the light mint green of Bluegrass Suite. This is also actually a good design trick if you don’t have a headboard, and it is easy and inexpensive to do.

The light grey of the furniture mimics the paint color Private Stock. It’s a very cool color which is restful for the eyes. Tom paired this with white bedsheets. He was very excited to find in the SM bed linen collection, a bedspread that had lines in the mint color embroidered at one end. For visual weight, the throw pillows he piled on the bed and the shaggy rug have different textures and come in different shades of mint and grey.

Tom certainly designed a bedroom where you can relax and sleep away the stresses of the day.
