If you’ve been living it up during the holiday season, this Monday may find you awake but buried under the bedclothes, feeling a strong reluctance to get up and start the day…to start the year, in fact. Unless you have made it your intention to live a purposeful life in 2023. Make this year the beginning of days that are more deliberate and intentional rather than a crazy rush to run to any place and time which is not here and now. We all know that’s a recipe for stress. Surely in this enlightened age, we all have realized that stress is not a friend.
Wake Up Then Get Up
How to get up? Just do the 5 second rule of author Mel Robbins where she explained, “The 5 Second Rule is simple. If you have an instinct to act on a goal, you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will kill it.”
When you open your eyes and you realize that there is so much to do today, shut off all thoughts like—it’s so nice and warm under the blanket…I want to sleep some more…I don’t want to face the day…why can’t it be Christmas break still… You get my drift? Just focus on your breath, then count 5-4-3-2-1, and stand up. It’s as easy as that. When you do this often, you create a habit that can get you going easily.
If you’re lucky enough to have a terrace, then go catch some sun. With the Pinoy’s preference to look fair, many of us shun the sun when that’s one of the most important gifts this world has to offer. The morning sun especially is most beneficial to our health. So go out and greet the sun. Get your sun kisses before putting on your armor for the day.
Plant Lover in Action
If you are a plant lover, good for you. Having plants inside and around the home not only makes your sanctuary look beautiful but also healthy since plants provide positive energy in your home, remove toxins, and repel insects. Give them the water they need to make their food.
Give Thanks and a Prayer
Gratitude is one of the best ways to get you in a frame of mind that attracts abundance and love. I suggest that you read this post that I wrote in 2020 at the start of the stringent lockdowns. This is all about being grateful. There is a video in this post that until today I love to watch regularly. As a reminder. As a prayer.
“Love yourself then give away all the love you feel today.” Because love is where beauty lives.
Drink your favorite brew at the beginning of your day and think about how you want this day to turn out. Have the intention to love and spread love. As fashion icon Audrey Hepburn said, “They say love is the best investment; the more you give, the more you get in return.”
Choose a purposeful life in 2023!
