Dear Lettie,

I’m planning to paint my trellis but I’m confused about what paint to use. Gawa siya sa galvanized iron, nasa labas ng bahay at walang existing paint.

I appreciate your suggestions!

Thank you.

Hi, Needs Recommendations.

Let’s paint your trellis! Mayroon na akong mga naisip na pintura na puwede mong gamiting.

For painting a galvanized iron trellis that is outdoors, you have several options. Here are my paint recommendations:

1. Boysen Quick Drying Enamel

Paint TechTalk with Lettie: What Paint Should I Use for My Metal Trellis? | MyBoysen

Boysen Quick Drying Enamel is an alkyd-type paint. Puwede itong gamitin sa parehong kahoy at metal na surfaces sa loob man o labas ng bahay. Very durable ito at may high gloss finish. Swak para sa trellis mo.

It also comes in many readily-available colors! If you can’t find the color you want, you also have the option of mixing your own paint color using Boysen Oil Tinting Colors. Keep in mind that because this is alkyd-type paint, there will be a noticeable chemical smell compared to when you’re working with water-based paints.

2. Boysen Acqua Epoxy

Boysen Acqua Epoxy is popular for use on concrete floors like garages.

Maasahang matibay!

Readily-available paint color options though are a bit more limited compared to Boysen Quick Drying Enamel.

3. Boysen Roofgard

You might be familiar with Boysen Roofgard as paint for roofs. Pero puwede rin itong gamitin sa iba pang mga surfaces na gawa sa galvanized iron. Glossy ang paint finish nito at may mga pagpipilian din na readily-avaible na mga kulay.

Boysen Roofgard is water-based so it’s low in odor and non-flammable. You don’t need to use solvent thinners and reducers for cleanups either as just water and soap will do.

Plus, it has excellent UV resistance which means its color lasts longer than other paints. It’s also manufactured to be rust-resistant and with a flexible paint film to help avoid corrosion, cracking, and peeling.

Huwag Kalimutan!

If you do pick one of my suggestions above, remember to take note of the necessary surface preparation procedure that the product requires. Find all the info you need to know about each product over at the Boysen website (Boysen.com.ph) such as the correct primer to use and step-by-step instructions.

Sana maganda kalabasan ng trellis paint project mo! Good luck!
