Dave is back with a video tutorial on what seems to be de rigueur these days in homes and other living spaces—the ubiquitous aroma oil burner.

I’m such a sucker for upcycling, recycling, and other sustainability practices. So I’m all for having Dave transform an old bamboo chopping board into an aroma oil burner.

I’m also an unapologetic aroma oil junkie. I have a diffuser which I turn on almost every day in my living room. I started out with florals more than a decade ago, but have widened my options depending on my mood, to include grass, citrus, grass and herbs, spices, etc.

Aroma oils are also used for medicinal purposes, which is a plus for me. Just be careful where you buy your oils, even if there’s “organic” written on the label. As it is, our bodies are bombarded by chemicals from the air we breathe, the food we eat, the liquids we drink, and the lotions and potions we use on our skins.

Just like in Dave’s recent video tutorial about making a shelf for your collection, we also used Hudson Timbercoat for this project. This product is a non-yellowing coating that has good abrasion resistance and an elegant finish.

Aroma Oils

I remember going around in the Ambiente Frankfurt Fair in 2010 with a friend. She pointed out the essential oils and told me that she expected the growth of that business to be exponential. She was right. The forecast for the essential oil global market in 2024 is USD 12.47 billion, which is expected to grow by more than 10% to USD 27.82 billion by 2032. These essential oils are used in food, pharmaceuticals, aromatherapy, cosmetics, and personal care.

Aroma oils are available in eCommerce platforms, markets, and shopping malls. They are actually all over, and many are made in the Philippines. If you’ve got tips on good-smelling organic oils that you’ve tried, please share in the comment section below.
