Wonder: Afternoon Disco and Playtime

Let’s travel back in time—when I couldn’t be convinced to watch anything other than cartoons. I played all day, every day. I considered meals and naps as distractions to my playtime. That’s how focused and committed I was to play. I mostly played pretend. I used to wake up early so I could open my imaginary shop. Phew, busy day in the restaurant because I was the customer, the cashier, the waiter, and the chef! I guess you could say that I wore many hats. This is a reminder that you could be anything that you want to be. If you can picture it, you can be it. Just believe!

Unlike adults, kids don’t feel the pressure to figure everything out. They’re the masters of living in the moment and enjoying whatever they are doing. Let your favorite childhood memory inspire you to simply enjoy the ride.

My happiest childhood memory must be building forts with blankets and pillows. Blowing and popping bubbles come in second. I pretended that it’s a cave on a deserted island. I was a castaway but I wasn’t lonely. I had learned how to adapt to this new terrain! Armed with my plastic sword and water gun, I had no fear even though this jungle island was home to exotic wild animals. Every time I had to come out of the fort and look for food (go to the kitchen), I must jump from chair to chair because the floor was lava!
