This DIY project from Dave is for the plant lovers who want a shelf to showcase their beloved leafy babies at home. Here’s a caveat though: Get someone to do the measuring and cutting of the wood if carpentry work is not your cup of tea. Just satisfy your internal DIY artist by perfecting the finishing touches.
Dave used two Boysen products to protect the wood since he wants to put his plant shelf outdoors. For the first two coats, he used Boysen Xyladecor. This is a wood stain that we focused on in this blog post. This is one of my favorite products because not only will your wooden surfaces and items have a beautiful finish, but this product also is water repellent and it protects your wood from the growth of mold and fungi.
After two coats of Xyladecor, Dave used Hudson Timbercoat as a topcoat, a clear coating for wooden surfaces that can be used in both interior and exterior surfaces (just like Xyladecor). It comes in three sheens—gloss, semi-gloss, and matte.
Plants in the Home
A home that has plants inside and outside look so welcoming, friendly, and cozy. Plants give such a wonderful energy to the home, and some are even approved by NASA to clean the air.
Aside from this plant shelf, Dave made a DIY concrete plant propagator to grow baby plants in. Especially for the more expensive plants, make multiple plants out of a single plant.
Aside from air, water, sunlight, and natural nutrients that plants need, you also have to give your love, time, and patience. But if you’re a plant lover, then this is something you already know and love to do.
In case you’re new at being a plantito/plantita, the infographic you will find here in this post is very helpful. The plants you see here are for different rooms in the house.
If you want to concentrate on bedrooms, here’s another blog post that can help. It shows 15 plants that you can put in the bedroom that will soothe you to sleep.
