Boysen has different putty options, each useful depending on where you would use it. We’ve prepared these infographics to provide a convenient visual guide.

A putty serves to correct small imperfections on surfaces. Even after applying the skimcoat and primer, minor cracks and holes may show up. Hence, applying putty is an important step in painting (or repainting) for an even and consistent finish. To maintain pristine walls, even the smallest crack needs to be covered up.

Boysen offers four product options for patching up hairline cracks on concrete walls.

Boysen Masonry Putty is the go-to product for imperfections less than 1 mm on interior concrete walls. To correct imperfections up to 2 mm, go for Boysen Perma-putty, a more high-build putty. You may also use these on plaster and stucco.

An alternative for correcting surface imperfections less than 1 mm in interior walls is Boysen Patching Compound. It is a powder-based putty that is mixed with Latex Paint. Most seasoned painters go for site-mixed putty, so this is recommended. Just be mindful of the proper mixing ratio to avoid adverse reactions like chalking. This product can also be applied on drywall.

For exterior walls, use Boysen Acrytex Cast. It can correct imperfections less than 1 mm and is compatible with most topcoats for exteriors.

For imperfections larger than 2 mm, you may need a skimcoat or render to correct it. Check out this article for your options.

Applying putty is also necessary when painting or repainting wood surfaces. The painting system you’re using affects which putty to use.

Boysen Plasolux Glazing Putty is an alkyd-type putty, compatible with enamel paints like Boysen Quick Drying Enamel. Though, it is also the putty for other topcoats which you can explore in this article.

Meanwhile, Boysen Lacquer Spot Putty is lacquer-based. It is the designated putty for Boysen Automotive Lacquer and Boysen Gloss Lacquer Enamel White paint systems.

Boysen Acrytex Cast may also be used as a wood putty, if you seek to apply Boysen Acrytex as a topcoat.
