I love the weather we have here in the Philippines. Yes, sometimes I do wish we could experience the beauty of autumn or the coziness of winter. However, I’d still prefer our tropical weather. I love me some sunshine! But being situated near the equator, we have some really hot summers and really intense storms. At Boysen, we take these things into consideration when we formulate our paints. If you want a step up in protecting your homes or offices, use Boysen Elasti-kote.

What Makes it a Premium Elastomeric Paint?

Boysen Elasti-kote is our premium elastomeric wall paint for exterior concrete substrates. It is a 100% acrylic water-based elastomeric wall paint that is formulated to bridge micro or hairline cracks and crevices. It provides good waterproofing and protection. Also, it is UV resistant and has excellent weatherability. While this product might be “overqualified” for smaller residential projects, it is the perfect fit for high-rises like office buildings and condominiums.

How to use Boysen Elasti-kote

Just like with any other painting project, always make sure that the surface is prepped properly prior to the actual painting.

New concrete should dry for about 14 to 28 days under normal weather conditions. The substrate should be clean and dry, free from oil, grease, dust, dirt, and all loose grit and mortar. Should the surface need to be neutralized, treat the substrate with a solution of 1 part Boysen Masonry Neutralizer B-44 diluted in 16 parts water. Apply the solution liberally using a brush or roller. Let it dry overnight before rinsing with water to remove any white crystals that would form on the surface. Let dry before painting. However, if the concrete substrate has cured for more than 28 days, there is no need for a neutralizer.

If you’re repainting concrete with a chalky surface, apply a layer of Boysen Chalk Blocker B-7304 as a surface conditioner. In case of mildew infestation, swab or brush the substrate with a bleach solution (1:3, laundry bleach to water, respectively). Let the solution work its magic for around 24 hours before cleaning off the residue and then let the surface dry completely. If you want to learn more on how to prep concrete, click here!

As I mentioned previously, Boysen Elasti-kote is best for high-rise buildings. As such, it should be applied by a BOYSEN-accredited painting contractor.

Painting Schedule

Boysen Elasti-kote has two painting system options. You can apply it on as a plain finish. Alternatively, you can also opt to include a fibermesh reinforcing membrane in the system to make it more durable.

In Conclusion

It’s never a good idea to scrimp on paint especially when you’re repainting a building! High-rises are typically more exposed to the sun’s radiation and are more battered by storms. Choosing a premium elastomeric paint like Boysen Elasti-kote will give an extra layer of protection and durability for your buildings.

Boysen Elasti-kote’s painting system might be a little complicated, we understand. So if you have any further questions on the product’s properties or how to apply it, you can always send us an email at ask@myboysen.com. We’re always eager to help! Happy painting!

  1. What primer for Acrytex should we use for wood? Can we apply Acrytex on wood already primed with Flat Wall Enamel, and painted with flat Permacoat Latex? Our problem is our newly painted wooden windows with paint as described above have formed molds on both the interior and exterior during the rainy weather. The house is in Baguio.

Additionally, can you point us to where we can find online your pre-mixed selection of Acrytex colors? Thanks.
