Books on Color Theory
By its simplest definition, color theory is the study of how colors interact and work together. Having even a bit of knowledge of color theory goes a long way. And it’s not just for artists, it’s for anyone looking for a deeper understanding of color. Color harmony, for example, will come in handy if you want a room that looks cohesive and balanced.
A quick web search will bring up tons of recommendations for books on color theory. One of the best for beginners is Color: A Course in Mastering the Art of Mixing Colors by Betty Edwards. For the more advanced learner, there’s Interaction of Color by Josef Albers. See if you can get your hands on one or both for your gift receiver.

Offer to Help with Repainting
Time is a gift. Literally. Give your time, maybe a full day or two, to someone who you appreciate. Offer to help them with a project that will go faster if done by two people—like repainting.
Let’s face it, painting is not the quickest task to accomplish so having you help them out makes a ton of difference. You’ll be even more valuable if you come with painting know-how too.
