Whether you’re working from home or at an office, one thing’s for sure. It’s probably…not the most organized place in the world, to put it kindly. We spend almost a third of our day at our work stations. So, it’s probably a good idea to keep it clean and organized. Here’s a quick home office cleaning guide to light our way.

Declutter Paperwork

Home Office Cleaning Guide | MyBoysen

Look around you. Can you barely see anything in the room because of the piles and piles of paperwork on your desk? I feel you. Decluttering all your old paperwork can be a very daunting task. But, don’t worry about it and just take a deep breath. Arm yourself with filing folders, clear books, and a mechanical shredder and get started. File away all old documents and receipts per year and file them away in a storage cabinet. If possible, digitize all these important documents so you have soft copies on hand whenever you need it. Paperwork that have served their purpose can now be recycled.

Clean your set-up

When was the last time you cleaned your PC or laptop? Take a good look at your mouse and keyboard. There’s probably a bit of grime built up from your manic clicking and typing. If you can, take your PC to a shop to get it professionally cleaned to make sure it’s running as smoothly as possible. Lastly, wash your mouse pads!

Cord management can be a nightmare. Hop on to your favorite online shopping app to find cord organizers that can help. Investing in cord management not only makes your work set-up look cleaner; but, it also keeps you from accidentally pulling something out when they get tangled.

Dust and Wipe

Give your table and office chair a good wipe down. Yes, including the underside and legs! If your office chair is lined with fabric, give it a good vacuuming too. Unplug any electronics before giving them a thorough wipe down. Extension cords and charging wires tend to accumulate a lot of dust.

If your office is against a wall, there’s a high chance that there’s some built up dust and grime there too. Use a non-abrasive cloth and a gentle cleanser to buff away at stains left on your office walls. If you’ve used Virtuoso Silk Touch, this step should be easy.
