Do you want to switch to #teamkulay from #teamputi, #teamindustrial, or #teamkahoy, but don’t know how to do it? Here’s a #teamkulay trick for color newbies that can make the painting of colors in your home an easy and painless adventure. The secret is to desaturate the colors you’ve chosen.

We showed you a tip in this post where we made three paint palettes of the rainbow colors. Basically, we lightened the intensity of the colors for each palette. Choose the pastel palette to easily transition from the white, wood, or industrial styles to one that is bursting with color, albeit muted ones. Increase the tint (+ white) of the colors of your choice as you go from vibrant colors to pastels.

Below you will find images of interior spaces and a matching color palette of light colors to recommend. We included the darker colors to show you that you can really increase the tint to soften the hues.

Excellent health is worth striving for, and we know that diet plays a major role in helping to get our bodies in peak condition. If you’ve got a kitchen like this gorgeous pink beauty, preparing delicious and healthy meals for the family becomes a happy affair instead of a daily drudgery.

If you’re a pinkaholic, try Tartlet | BCP1090 and slowly change your kitchenware to match your walls. Take your time and do it only when your budget allows. You don’t have to get something in pink, choose a color that matches like white, gray, green, yellow, blue, or black (a la Dior or girl group Blackpink). Appliances in metallic colors of silver, chrome, copper, or gold, would look right at home with the pink walls. Just choose one color for the appliances though.

Let Lavender Bliss | BCP1252 melt away work stresses. Focused and motivated individuals don’t need warm colors like orange and yellow to energize them. Paint your home office walls with this cool, pale lilac color and embody the spirit of that motivational 1939 UK poster which said, “KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON.” This soothing pale lavender home office can encourage calm, clear, and organized thinking.

Beige doesn’t have to be boring, especially if you’ve got Alchemy | BCP0251. It’s a pale, sandy color that gleams when the sun strikes it. Paint the dining area with this magical color and give importance to meal times with the family. Working from home and online learning have made it possible for family members to be at home often. There is no need to treat a meal only as a functional activity to provide the body with the proper nutrients. Meals are also touchpoints throughout the day for the family to come together and share convivial moments.

@Teamwhite will say this is a room for white walls. You are right! The whole room has such a vibrant vibe with all the happy colors in it, and white could be an excellent canvas. But if you want to be different and explore another color, choose a pale blue like Blue Sky | BCP0601. This blue tint fits any color you find in the room—yellow, fuchsia, red, white, orange, green, etc.

Look Good with Cream and Wood

Calling #Teamkahoy. If you want your wood furniture, wood wall cladding, wood whatever to stand out in all its glory, go for a cream color like Palest of Lemon | BCP0264 for your walls. To have everything in your interiors with the same wood (or wood color like brown) would look and feel overpowering. If a bahay kubo is your peg, then follow your dreams. But if it’s a contemporary, classic feel that you want for your home, then cream is the dream.

A white wall would look good with dark wood furniture, of course. Scandinavian design is the darling of most homeowners. However, if you want another color palette in your interiors, then go from white to cream walls. Its lightness will bring out the colors of wood and weaves, just like white, but the overall look will be softer and less stark.

The Easy Way to Choose Desaturated Colors

The five colors above are just examples. What you need to do would be to think of your favorite color and get a swatch of that, whether from magazines, clothes, or any thing that you have at home. Then, go to a Boysen Mix and Match Station and find a very light version of that color by checking the fandeck. In other words, go for muted versions of the colors you love and paint your home with these colors. Using this method of desaturating your favorite colors is a painless way to introduce colors in your home, that is, if you are thinking of transitioning from #teamwhite, #teamkahoy, #teamindustrial to #teamkulay.
