We’ve got another upcycling project for you. Dave shows you how to use an empty Boysen paint bucket and make it into a plant basket. Of course, you can use the paint bucket as it is as most people do when they reuse the paint can in their gardens. But if you’re like Dave, and you want your plant container to look as organic as your plant, watch the video.
You don’t need a lot of materials to do this project. You just need glue, abaca rope, and a large Boysen bucket. The only Boysen product you need is Hudson Timbercoat, a low-odor, water-based coating to protect your plant basket.
This is a good craft project for plantitos and plantitas. We’ve got another one for you with Dave making a free standing plant shelf (click on link). Compared to this easy-peasy basket, the plant shelf is a masterclass in carpentry work (well, not really). If you’re not a carpenter, ask someone to do all the wood cutting for you.
Other Video Tutorials
There are three other video tutorials that have a similar plant or basket theme.
Vertical Bucket Garden
Watch Pete’s vertical garden using empty and clean Boysen buckets. This is a space-saving tip so if you have a pocket garden, this should work!
Rope Laundry Basket
Kriz used an ordinary plastic basket and covered it with rope to create a laundry basket that had fab vibes instead of drab. She wanted an ombre look for the basket so she used two colors of Boysen Permacoat Latex paint. Watch the video to see how she did it.
Paint Terra Cotta Pots
This is simple to do. Just use stencils to make painting designs easier. This video got a lot of likes and comments. If you are not crafty enough to make your own stencils, you can always look for free ones online and copy those.
