Hi, Lettie.

For my drywalls, I want to use Acrytex Primer as primer and then Permacoat Latex as topcoat. Is this okay?

Thank you.

Boysen User A

Hi as well, Boysen User A!

For drywalls, we do not recommend using Boysen Acrytex Primer. It’s for masonry and wooden surfaces.

Instead, we suggest using a purely water-based painting system. This means both your primer and topcoat will be a water-based paint product.

Here’s one example:

Primer: Boysen Permacoat Flat Latex B-701
Topcoat: Boysen Permacoat Latex

Alternatively, here are other water-based products to consider:

Primer

Boysen EcoPrimer

Boysen EcoPrimer | MyBoysen

Boysen EcoPrimer ticks all the boxes if you need a primer. It has superb sealing properties for bare substrates and is highly alkali resistant which helps you avoid paint problems like color fading, efflorescence, chalking, and peeling.

Because it’s low in odor, there’s less worry about strong paint chemical smells lingering around the house. As an eco-friendly product, it’s certified both lead-safe and low VOC by leading international third-party certification body, SCS Global. This makes it safe not just for the environment but for your household’s health as well.

Topcoat

Boysen Healthy Home

Boysen Healthy Home | MyBoysen

Boysen Healthy Home is an acrylic, water-based interior paint that’s formulated with antibacterial properties. Apart from having a durable and beautiful satin finish, it can also protect your walls from potentially harmful microbes like bacteria, molds, and fungi. It’s odor-less as well so usual activities at home can go uninterrupted making it ideal for families with children.

It comes in a selection of readily available colors. If you need more paint color options, you get a thousand more to choose from at Boysen Mix and Match stations.

Virtuoso Silk Touch

Virtuoso Silk Touch | MyBoysen

If you want an all-in-one topcoat, turn to Virtuoso Silk Touch. It comes in a luxurious silky matte finish which gets you beautiful walls that impart depth and warmth to a space. It’s distinctively smooth to the touch too.

Next, it’s easy-clean. It’s manufactured to have a surface protector so oil and dirt do not easily stick to it. This means you’ll have painted walls that stay looking good for longer.

With antibacterial technology, it also provides protection against E. Coli, salmonella, mildew, and fungus. On top of all this, it’s low-odor, low-VOC, and lead-free. You get more paint color options for Virtuoso at Boysen Mix and Match stations too.

As a gentle reminder, it’s always best to consult with the manufacturer of the drywall you’ll be using to ensure that the paint product you’ve chosen will be compatible with it.

With that said, it was wise of you to ask us if you could use Acrytex Primer on drywall. Because now you know that you shouldn’t!

Good luck and feel free to send us a message again if you have further questions.
