During a painting renovation, color usually tops the list for priorities. But if health and safety are also included in your list of things to consider, you should definitely use Boysen EcoPrimer in your painting system.
What is Boysen EcoPrimer?
It is an eco-friendly acrylic water-based primer for concrete and drywall surfaces. It can be used for both interior and exterior applications.
Excellent Concrete Primer
Boysen EcoPrimer is not just a more environmentally-friendly paint; it’s also designed to be an excellent primer. It’s formulated to be rich in binders, giving it superb sealing properties for bare substrates. This property also makes it highly alkali resistant. Why is alkali resistance important, you ask? Well, this actually prevents certain paint defects such as color fading, discoloration, efflorescence, chalking, and peeling.
Low-Odor Formulation
EcoPrimer can be used for both interiors and exteriors. However, it’s a really good option for repainting interior spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms because it’s low in odor! As a topcoat, use other low-odor paints such as Healthy Home and Virtuoso Silk Touch to seal the deal. Putting that aside, it’s still a good idea to crack open some windows during a painting project. This helps with ventilation and speeds up the drying time of paint.
Safe and Sound
What makes EcoPrimer a standout compared to other regular concrete primers? For one thing, it was definitely formulated with the environment in mind. This primer is certified with both the Indoor Advantage™ Gold for Building Materials and as a Lead Safe Paint by leading international third party certification body, SCS Global.
These certifications mean that the product has undergone a rigorous testing process for both its VOC and lead content. And, it passed with flying colors! TL;DR: Boysen EcoPrimer is certified safe for its little to no lead and VOC content. This is especially helpful for repainting interior spaces where you’d have kids around!
How to Use Boysen EcoPrimer
This product is applied like any other regular concrete primer. Before starting any painting project, it’s important to prep the surface thoroughly first. Make sure that any new concrete substrate has dried for at least 14 to 28 days prior to any painting activity. The surface should be clean and dry before applying a coat of Boysen EcoPrimer.
Again, this primer can be applied for both exterior and interior walls. Look through our visual guide below for our suggested paint system for these two options.
Just like any other regular concrete primer, just brush on a coat of EcoPrimer on the properly prepped substrate. Afterwards, if there are still any minor surface imperfections, go ahead and use a putty. After letting that dry, apply 2 coats of your preferred water-based paint.
