Take the Acrytex Test!

Let’s start with something easy. Which of these is NOT true about Boysen Acrytex?

Everything is true except that Boysen Acrytex should not be painted on top of other paints, specifically water-based and oil-based coatings. This has to do with paint compatibility (learn about it here). Doing so will destroy the paint film underneath it and cause your Acrytex coating to flake.

What should you do if you want to apply Boysen Acrytex on a surface that already has existing paint?

You will need to do all of the above if you want to paint a surface that already has existing paint with Boysen Acrytex. Carry it out in this order: scrape, clean, and apply primer. The exception to this is if the existing paint is also Acrytex. For more details, check out the product info page of Boysen Acrytex here.

Where can you apply Boysen Acrytex?

Boysen Acrytex can be applied on both concrete and wooden surfaces. In fact, when painted on wood, it acts as a good stain inhibitor thanks to its water-repellent properties.

You want to thin Acrytex before applying. What should you thin it with?

Your Acrytex topcoat must only be thinned with Boysen Acrytex Reducer. Thin at a 1:4 maximum ratio of reducer to topcoat. When using a brush or roller, you can opt to thin Boysen Acrytex to make it easier to apply and to avoid cobwebbing, a coating defect where web-like material appears on the surface as you’re applying the paint. Thinning Boysen Acrytex is also done to get it to a sprayable consistency when applying it with a spray gun.

Which of these is NOT true about Boysen Acrytex Clear Coat?

Boysen Acrytex Clear Coat cannot be used on floors or other surfaces where it can get scratched or damaged. With that said, it’s a great choice if you want to add a layer of protection and shine to bricks, natural stone, masonry, and wood. Use it even on exterior surfaces.

What should you use to add texture to your Acrytex finish?

Here’s how you get a textured finish. First, thin Acrytex Cast with Acrytex Reducer to a sprayable consistency. Then, using a mortar gun, spray the resulting mixture to the surface. Wait for 10-15 minutes then press down the cast with a wooden roller that’s been wet with Acrytex Reducer. Apply your topcoat after.

You to want tint Acrytex to achieve a different color. What do you tint it with?

Looking for other Acrytex colors aside from white? Get it with Boysen Acrytex Tinting Colors! Also called colorants, tinting colors are not paint themselves but are essentially concentrated colors in a pot. You mix them in a container of white paint to change its color depending on the colorant you choose. Learn more about tinting colors here.
