Paint estimation involves calculating the total paintable area of your project (find the formula here.) Aside from this though, there are other factors that you would need to consider including surface type, surface condition, desired surface texture, and more.
For your convenience, the Paint Calculator on the Boysen website makes this crucial step in a painting project easier. Simply input details of your project, including the area you’re working on, and it does the computations for you.
Importantly, it also takes into consideration the type of surface you’re working with, whether you’re painting exteriors or interiors, whether you want a plain or textured finish, whether you’re painting on a bare surface or one with existing paint, and the paint product you want to use.

Figuring out which products you need for a project is not only a matter of personal preference. Technical details, such as type of surface, should be taken into account as using the wrong products can lead to disastrous results. Problems that can arise from it, like the dreaded paint incompatibility, are often times stressful, costly, and time-consuming.
To help you figure out the most suitable products for your project is the Choose Your Paint tool on the Boysen website. Choose Your Paint is basically a product recommendation tool. It does this by gathering and considering the details about your project and seeing which products in the Boysen lineup are the most appropriate.
To do so, Choose Your Paint will ask a few questions related to your project and all you have to do is pick an answer from the choices presented. This, again, stresses the importance of familiarizing yourself with the details of your painting project as it will also help you figure out what products you need.
