Whether it’s habagat or just the mild blues, one way to let the sunshine in is to have a dash of yellow in the home. It could be a calamansi honey drink that could lift your spirits, and it’s healthy too. Mangoes and bananas on the kitchen countertop could also work. Mellow Yellows
Soft, gentle yellows like the one above, are shown here because for a tropical country, I feel that we get lots of sunshine most of the time. IMO, having deep, saturated yellows, such as mustard, should be kept at a minimum—on accent walls or in furniture or accessories—because, personally, I prefer being sun-kissed rather than sunburned. A muted yellow goes a long way, so to speak.
Step into the Sunshine

If you’ve got a north-facing room, yellow is a great choice because the warm undertone of faux-sunshine walls brings that warmth in.

Dark Yellow for the Bold

Painting Tip
