Nowadays, the average Filipino household does not have a dedicated bedroom for guests. If there is extra space, this would usually double as a family room, a home office, a wellness room, a study room, or whatever else the homeowners need. However, some have the luxury of space to make a room just for guests to use. This is wonderful for those who have family and friends who often visit and may stay overnight or longer, especially if they live out of town or abroad.
For this moodboard video, we opted for Japandi interiors. For guests who have been on the go, it is a luxury to have your own space in another person’s home where you can enjoy privacy during your stay. This works two ways since it is great not only for the visitors but also for the owners.
Japandi Interior Style
What would make it even more special is if you make the guest bedroom a calm and comfortable space, which is why we’ve chosen the Japandi style.
Japandi is nothing new. I wrote about this style for the first time in 2020, although this has been around since 2017.
It’s a style that marries the pared down elegance of Japanese design with the spare modernity and functionality of Scandinavian design. The fusion works really well because of the shared aesthetics of minimalism, simplicity, functionality, love for natural materials, and a respect for craftsmanship.
The Moodboard
The moodboard colors are predominantly creamy white and brown, with very slight touches of black in the vases and painting. The use of wood in the flooring, furniture and ceiling beams creates a smooth visual flow. Providing the connection to nature in this indoor space is a silent invitation to guests to relax and feel at home.
Greenery and the white cotton balls are added to highlight the organic feel of the space even more. Layering textures in this bedroom—the silky softness of bed linens, the plushness of the tufted rug, the smoothness and polish of the mirror—amps up the warmth and comfort.
Boysen Oil Wood Stain
Like the previous moodboard video for the soft industrial kitchen, we used the Boysen Oil Wood Stain color in walnut half tone. This color is popular nowadays because it is a rich, classic brown color that offers a high-end look. This product is used for interior woodwork, and enhances wood grain while providing excellent protection.

Boysen Permacoat Latex
There is no need to introduce Boysen’s leading product that has proven itself to the Philippine market for decades. Boysen Permacoat Latex is a 100% acrylic paint with excellent hiding and outstanding durability, that is ideal for interior and exterior surfaces such as concrete, bricks, plaster, and drywalls.
We chose the creamy whites Land of Trees and Baby Blossom. Both are warm colors with very slight tinges of yellow and pink, respectively. Both are perfect complements to the walnut wood stain.

If you come from a long trip and end up in this guest bedroom, it would feel like a warm welcoming hug where you could rest comfortably and regain your energy. Kudos to homeowners who afford this luxury to houseguests! What’s more important than a private space, however, is the warm hospitality you show your guests.
