Morfosis Design is a multi-disciplinary design studio specializing in commercial and residential interior design, founded by Misty Floro and Pai Edles in 2013. In this talk, they will be discussing how their personal background, beliefs and values, help shape the interior spaces that they design. They will also be discussing sample projects to show their design process. The overall objective is to show how interior design goes beyond aesthetics by allowing us to create purposeful and meaningful spaces that have a positive impact on how we live.

With the abundance of urban design knowledge and information available for everyone’s consumption and scrutiny, our country has a wealth of ideas and plans that are intended for the improvement of our waterfront communities’ urban lives. However, segregated neighborhoods, congestion, unsafe pedestrian settings and disaster risk exposure, to name a few, still exist in these districts. Through the presentation of the studio’s explorations on some of these locales, this lecture proposes that the gaps between vision, plan and reality could also be attributed to the strategies and approaches behind the design interventions that define our urban waterfront areas.

Learning Outcomes/Course Objectives

After completing the course, the participant should be able to:

  • Highlight institutional frameworks within which some of the projects and activities for these urban waterfront communities originated.
  • Provide awareness of the underlying factors that influence our waterfront communities’ problems and our urban environments’ spatial issues in general.
  • Present the studio’s alternative strategies translated into urban design components, based on these locales’ existing conditions.

It is highly dependent on understanding conditions, behaviors, Lifecycles and performances.

After completing the course, the participant should be able to:

  • Understand how progressive, responsive and responsible designs can have positive influence in shaping our urban and rural future.
  • Enable the use of various research platforms in various medias to gather crucial data prior to drawing.
  • Understanding values of place, resources and experience.
  • Understanding of form and consequence.
  • Value of sustainability as a way of life than a metric system.

Boysen WoodPrime

Surfaces: Interior surfaces made of wood

Boysen WoodPrime is an acrylic water- based primer designed for application on interior wooden substrates. It is low in odor and is formulated to have better tannin resistance. It is best to refrain from using this product on high-friction areas such as fixtures and furniture.
